Envisia and the Romanian-American University Launch the 11th Cohort of the Postgraduate Program “Corporate Governance that Creates Value”
Envisia and the Romanian-American University are launching the 11th cohort of the postgraduate program “Corporate Governance that Creates Value”, starting October 16, 2025. The accredited program for the professionalization of board members is attracting an increasing number of participants from state-owned companies: 22% of participants come from such organizations, and 72% of them have joined since Cohort 6 (year 2024), signaling an accelerated openness towards formal education, structured peer exchange, and long-term vision. Participating organizations include AACR, Antibiotice, BTT, BBT Costinești, Electrica, Oil Terminal, OMV, Transgaz, Returo.ro, Romgaz, and Transelectrica.
Accredited program with institutional recognition
The postgraduate program “Corporate Governance that Creates Value”, dedicated to the professionalization of board members, is recognized by the Ministry of Education and Research and ANC. Graduates of the 11th edition receive a postgraduate certificate and 6 ECTS, through the partnership with the Romanian-American University and the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Launched in 2018, the program has built a strong community of 150 professional board members and governance practitioners and has already delivered 10 cohorts by mid-October 2025. Its practical format — focused on board simulations, real case studies, applied exercises, and structured peer exchange — addresses real-life needs in the boardroom.
Focus on practice and peer learning
Participants work on real-life cases, refine their knowledge and skills related to roles and responsibilities, fiduciary duty, understanding and using the board pack, risks and control, sustainability/ESG, and board-level relational dynamics — all with a focus on results and long-term value creation.
“The program put order into what in practice was fragmented: roles, responsibilities, decision-making frameworks, and concrete tools to lead better board conversations. The applied component and honest exchange between peers from different sectors significantly improved the quality of board deliberations. For state-owned companies, where societal expectations are even higher, this professionalization is essential.” — Alexandru Anghel, Chairman of the Board, AACR, alumnus of Cohort 9
Lecturers with boardroom credibility
The program brings together experts from business and the financial services industry, with competencies in regulation, capital markets, audit, strategy, sustainability, and public policy: Narcisa Oprea, Mihai Purcărea, Adrian Codirlașu, Radu Hanga, Dragoș Neacșu, Mirela Pǎunescu, Flavia Popa, alongside other recognized experts — offering a balance between academic rigor and applicability.
Starting with Cohort 10, Vlad Deliu, board member with expertise in financial leadership, joined the team of facilitators for the module “Strategic Financial Decisions at Board Level”. His experience covers M&A projects (from due diligence to integration), designing financial and investment strategies, and optimizing capital structure — essential competencies for the responsible exercise of board membership. The full list of lecturers is available on the program page.
Who should apply
The program addresses board members (administrative or supervisory boards), executives working with boards (CEO, CFO, COO, etc.), aspiring board members (formal or advisory), stakeholders in the economic ecosystem, and public or private organizations — including state-owned enterprises — as well as Corporate Secretaries, governance partners (analysts, lawyers, consultants), and entrepreneurs/investors seeking a board-level perspective on strategy and decision-making.
This program also addresses the professionalization needs of state-owned enterprises’ boards in the context of Romania’s path toward OECD accession.
From principles to practice: growing interest from state-owned companies
In recent years, the program has attracted more and more leaders from state-owned or state-shareholding organizations — a clear sign of the desire for professionalization and appetite for accredited learning. Currently, participants from such organizations represent 22% of all participants, with 14% of represented organizations being state-owned. Moreover, 72% of these participants have joined since Cohort 6, signaling accelerating openness to accredited formal education, structured peer exchange, and long-term vision.
Participating organizations include AACR, Antibiotice, BTT, BBT Costinești, Electrica, Oil Terminal, OMV, Transgaz, Returo.ro, Romgaz, Transelectrica.
“The growing interest from state-owned companies reflects the maturing of the Romanian economy and the shift from intentions and principles to the real exercise of the board’s strategic role in supervising and controlling the organization, and ensuring an effective and ethical governance framework. Our program provides the setting in which board members strengthen strategic judgment, understand current regulations, and practice decisions that create long-term value.” — Dr. Gabriela Hârțescu, Dean and Founding Member, Envisia
Enrollment
Applications for Cohort 11 are open until October 13. Admission is based on experience, motivation, and potential contribution in the boardroom. Details about the format, daily agenda, and calendar are available on request and on the program page: link.
