SAP announces the launch of the SAP Labs Site in Bucharest, as part of the global SAP Labs network
German IT company SAP announces the launch of the SAP Labs Site in Bucharest, a digital innovation hub that will contribute to the expansion of SAP’s portfolio of products and services, as well as the development of local digital talent and encourage ecosystem and community engagement.
Starting in July, the new SAP Labs Site in Bucharest is part of the global R&D network SAP Labs Network, which oversees the most important engineering activities of the company, with 21 research and development centers in 17 countries around the world, such as Germany , United States of America, India, China and Brazil. Each location targets different areas, such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing or process automation, among others, and more than 40,000 employees contribute to the success of the network.
“The new SAP Labs Site in Bucharest comes as an important support for our operations within SAP Romania and will strengthen our expertise and market presence through the growth and development of local talent. Basically, innovation and people represent the essence of everything we do”, said Diana David, Managing Director of SAP Romania.
Through its new location in Bucharest, SAP Labs Network seeks to expand the SAP product portfolio as well as attract and develop new local digital talent. The network thus aims for synergies and shorter customer feedback cycles in the development of its applications and business processes.
The new Labs Site in Bucharest operates under the coordination of the local manager, Bogdan Cioc, and is part of the regional SAP Labs SEE Hub, which includes, in its activity, a wide range of areas of technological expertise.
SAP Labs SEE Hub is established in cooperation with SAP Labs Bulgaria and is under the leadership of Radoslav Nikolov, Managing Director SAP Labs Bulgaria.
“By combining SAP’s extensive engineering experience in Bulgaria and Romania, we reach a comprehensive level of expertise that covers everything from technology, applications and business processes to the broader service portfolio. In the South-East Europe region we are well prepared for a wider expansion and have the unique opportunity to become a very important growth engine for SAP engineering in Europe”, added Radoslav Nikolov, Managing Director of SAP Labs Bulgaria.
Bogdan Cioc, responsible for SAP Labs Site operations in Bucharest, is a graduate of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest and the Executive-MBA program of the University of Economics and Business in Vienna and the Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis. He started his professional career in 2002 and joined the SAP Romania team in 2007, where he was one of the founding members of the consulting service delivery center in the country. Since joining the company, he has held various roles in technical, business and people management.
“The decision to establish a unit dedicated to research and development in Romania represents a natural evolution for SAP. It comes as a result of the success of the Services Delivery center and the other units opened in the country over the last 16 years. With this decision, we seek to further leverage the region’s outstanding talent and foster a culture of collaboration, creativity and technological innovation. The focus on research and development comes to the fore, and we are excited to increase our region’s contribution to SAP’s exceptional portfolio of business products, which are shaping industries around the world,” said Bogdan Cioc, SAP Labs Site Bucharest Lead
