CGS Romania – Business growing by over 12%, significant advance of the number of new projects and clients in 2020
Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) Romania, the leader of the local business process outsourcing (BPO) market, reported last year an advance of over 12% of the business.
“The positive evolution of the company’s business in 2020 was determined primarily by the ability to be prepared and able to transition in a very short time (about 10 days from the onset of the local pandemic) to work from home almost the entire a team of about 4,000 employees. Once implemented, in record time, the remote work system and ensuring continuity of our activity, we managed to attract additional projects especially from existing customers who were very exposed in Asia “, said Vladimir Sterescu, Country Manager CGS Romania.
Another important aspect that led to the advancement of the business in a difficult year like 2020 was to ensure, since the beginning of the pandemic, a very good communication both among employees and in the market, consolidating and growing even more. trust in the brand and company. “We have constantly communicated the fact that the CGS activity will not be disturbed by the special situation we are in, that we will continue recruiting and that we need human resources. This has created confidence among CGS employees to constantly make recommendations for new open positions.
Also, the record time in which we moved into the work system from home almost the entire team made CGS Romania to be a positive example in the local and international outsourcing market and to position itself as a reliable partner “, underlined the company’s representative . 400 new jobs in 2020 and projects in the financial and telecom sector According to its statements, CGS Romania won new projects in the area of support for financial activities, most of these volumes coming from the Philippines, one of the countries most affected by the pandemic in the outsourcing segment because employees could not migrate from work due to home Internet connection limitations.
At the same time, the company won new projects in the telecommunications area, and the new volumes led to the hiring of 400 new colleagues in 2020.
Last year, the structure of CGS Romania’s clients at a geographical level remained unchanged compared to 2019. Thus, most projects come from companies in North America, with a constant growth. However, the company’s strategy for the next period is to attract new customers, especially from Europe, because, at the level of the local team, there are valuable human resources that speak a multitude of European languages, in addition to English. Moreover, CGS has the ability to attract new language-speaking employees.
The investments generated by the pandemic reached approx. 420,000 euros
With the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 was a challenge for the company. Beyond migrating to work from home, communication with employees was one of the aspects that required increased attention.
“It is very difficult to communicate remotely and, especially, to have control over what employees do in the context in which, often, they work with sensitive data. Thus, we purchased cameras for everyone and implemented video communication systems. Another challenge was in the training area where the experience of the first months of the pandemic proved to us that distance schooling is not as effective as face-to-face. Consequently, we had to retreat and, since the autumn of last year, we decided that all new employees should participate in the introductory trainings in our headquarters, respecting all safety and social distancing measures “, Vladimir Sterescu underlined.
2020 meant, for CGS Romania, also major investments generated especially by the socio-sanitary situation. Thus, the costs of the pandemic for the company have so far reached approx. 420,000 euros, the amount being allocated in a very short time. “The necessary investments generated by the pandemic were directed especially in the area of IT, access, security and employee monitoring. The most important aspect is the fact that we had to allocate these amounts in a short time because we reacted quickly to ensure the continuity of the business “, said the company’s manager.
Growing business for 2021 as well Regarding the estimates for this year, Vladimir Sterescu relies on maintaining the growth trend of turnover.
Only in the first quarter of 2021, CGS Romania added approx. 230 people to the team by opening new positions, this being the largest increase in recent years reported between January and March. The company also brought to its portfolio, during this period, new customers in the area of e-trading and mobile telephony.
The growth of the business this year will, of course, lead to constant recruitment. Thus, certainly by the end of the year CGS will reach several hundred new employees added to the team. “The focus this year will be on increasing the level of training of consultants. The market no longer wants a consultant specialized in a certain type of activity, but one able to solve multiple activities, so that the client is served in a single point of contact, regardless of the complexity of the problem. Consequently, the employee must be able either to solve the task or to take over its management by providing the interface with other colleagues. It is a slightly more expensive business model, because it requires much better trained staff, with a higher level of education, and investments in training will be much higher. However, we are confident that we will be pioneers in this business context “, said the representative of CGS Romania.
Regarding the work system that will be approached this year, Vladimir Sterescu relies on a hybrid one, so that, once he returns to normal, the employees will return to the office.
“We will probably have to work in a hybrid model all year round, although I personally do not advocate for it because this system can work in another type of company, but at the level of our industry it is very difficult. In a company like CGS, teams must be created, trained people at the beginning of their career, and interpersonal interaction is very important “, concluded the Country Manager of CGS Romania.
