Most of the HR people (76%) employed in companies in Romania use an artificial intelligence tool at least once a week, according to a study conducted between February and April 2025 by the human resources consulting company My HR Lab, to which over 100 HR professionals from Romania contribuited.
Of these, 40% use AI tools daily for their job-related activities, while 36% use such tools once a week.
ChatGPT from OpenAI is the most used artificial intelligence tool by HR professionals (92% of them), followed by Copilot from Microsoft (42%).
Mihaela Roșu – Head of Marketing & Consultancy My HR Lab: “In 2024, Romania ranked last in the EU regarding the use of artificial intelligence technologies. According to Eurostat, only 3.1% of companies with at least 10 employees use AI tools, well below the European average of 13.5%. With our study, we wanted to find out what the reality is in HR departments, where we know that the workload is very high. Considering the results of our study, human resources professionals in Romania frequently use AI tools to make their work easier and to improve processes and policies.”
HR professionals often use artificial intelligence tools to generate creative ideas, write emails, and synthesize information from various reports or documents. Other activities for which they use AI are those related to learning & development and designing human resources strategies for different processes.
Among the benefits that human resources executives appreciate when using AI technology are minimizing time spent on repetitive tasks, streamlining work, faster access to information, and generating ideas.
The biggest dilemmas that HR professionals have when it comes to using AI tools are related to privacy policies and data accuracy. Other dilemmas are related to the impact such technologies will have on the future of the job market and in what kind of situations it is not advisable to use AI.
Beatrice Galatanu – Owner & Trainer My HR Lab: “From the responses we received, 43% of HR professionals use AI tools provided by the company they work for, while only half of them have benefited from training on how they can use AI to optimize their work. One of the dilemmas they have related to artificial intelligence is how they can use this technology to benefit from its maximum potential, and this topic is one that learning and development departments will need to include in their employee learning programs.”
The study was conducted with the contribution of 110 people involved in human resources processes from over 100 companies in Romania. Of the respondents, 85% are senior, with over 7 years of experience, while 12% are specialists (3 – 7 years of experience). 30% work for companies active in the IT&C industry, 9% for the Professional Services sector, 9% in the Construction sector, 8% in FMCG, 7% for the Finance-Banking sector, 7% work for the Automotive sector, and 23% work in other industries.
