Spectro:o is competing with larger players who already have established market positions and resources but with a key advantage as an agile start-up

What is Spectro:o?
Spectro:o is an intuitive and easy-to-integrate digital signage platform that helps clients manage and distribute visual content on an unlimited number of screens in one single interface.
Context ( on behalf of Orange Fab Romania)
Although the concept of digital signage itself has been around since the 1970s and was initially adopted by the fashion industry and banks, today we are talking about a significantly different level of this solution. Now, this solution enables companies and entrepreneurs to attract more customers, increase their revenue, level of security and operational efficiency by delivering the right content to the right people at the right place with minimal effort and time consumption. Spectro:o is one of the most important representatives of this industry on the Romanian market, offering a plug-and-play digital display solution of high technology, but at the same time intuitive, allowing brands to easily manage the distribution of information. Fast, easy, compatible, affordable, easy to integrate into any organizational structure, efficient and useful, Spectro:o has won the trust of big brands such as Auchan, Carrefour, Dabo Doner and others.
How did Spectro:o start?
Six years ago, Marius Patroi, the founder of Spectro:o, was thinking about how to better promote product advertising, increasing their visibility among potential customers – and this was the starting point of Spectro:o. From 2022, Marius, together with his team of 10 people, leads the most important digital display company in Romania.
The start with Orange Fab
The first contact between Orange Fab and Spectro:o took place in January 2019, at a meeting of their mutual client, Carrefour: Spectro:o provided them with a digital display solution, and Orange – connectivity, to make the solution work smoothly in terms of communication.
What is the start-up core services and what is expected in terms of development on the local digital market?
Spectro:o is a digital signage solutions provider, and our core services revolve around delivering highly customizable, cloud-based content management systems for dynamic digital displays. This includes real-time updates, remote management, and content automation, primarily catering to businesses aiming to enhance customer engagement and streamline their communication across locations.
In terms of local digital market development, we see immense potential in sectors like retail, hospitality, and manufacturing, where digital transformation is accelerating. We expect a growing demand for interactive, data-driven digital signage solutions as companies increasingly focus on personalized customer experiences and real-time data integration. Additionally, local businesses are now more open to innovative advertising and communication methods, making the market ripe for our services.
The start-up’ people
Currently, we have a tight-knit team of 7 professionals. Our team consists of:
- 2 software developers specializing in cloud platforms, who are responsible for building and maintaining our core digital signage solutions.
- 2 members in the support team, ensuring seamless integration and assisting clients with any technical issues.
- 2 professionals in sales and marketing, who focus on reaching the right audiences and driving business growth.
- 1 person handling accounting, making sure our financial operations run smoothly.
Like most start-ups, our biggest challenge is navigating the uncertainties of the local economy, especially in terms of scaling and securing consistent investment. Another challenge is competing with larger players who already have established market positions and resources. However, our key advantage as a start-up is agility. We can pivot quickly based on client feedback and market demands, offering tailor-made solutions that larger companies may struggle to provide. Our team is highly adaptable and focused on innovation, which allows us to be more customer-centric.
What does it mean for Spectro:o to be part of the Orange Fab accelerator program, how did it help and what are the major achievements so far?
Being part of the Orange Fab accelerator has been a game-changer for Spectroo. It has provided us with access to invaluable resources, mentoring, and networking opportunities that have helped us refine our product offering and scale more efficiently. The collaboration with a company as established as Orange has also given us credibility in the market, accelerating trust-building with new clients. One of our major achievements through the program has been the successful integration of our solutions into larger retail chains and corporate environments, leveraging the Orange ecosystem for connectivity and data-driven insights.
What is the perspective of the development of start-ups pool in Romania and what do you think it can boost their development?
Romania’s start-up ecosystem has grown significantly, especially in the tech and digital sectors. There is a growing pool of talent, and the entrepreneurial culture is thriving. However, to boost the development of start-ups further, better access to funding and mentorship is critical. Government initiatives and collaboration with large multinational companies can also help by fostering a more robust support system. Creating an environment where innovation is rewarded, and failure is seen as part of the growth process, will encourage more entrepreneurs to take the leap.
Which are the business ambitions on the medium term in your industry and what kind of projects are in sight?
In the medium term, Spectro:o aims to become a leader in digital signage solutions not only in Romania but across Europe. We are focused on expanding our product range, integrating more advanced AI and machine learning capabilities for predictive analytics and automated content generation. Some exciting projects in sight include collaborations with large retail chains for interactive in-store experiences, and we’re also exploring partnerships in the smart city and transportation sectors to provide real-time data-driven solutions for public spaces.
This ambitious roadmap reflects our commitment to innovation and growth, while maintaining a customer-first approach in everything we do.
