Ionut Gavrilescu, Co-founder of FieldOS: Romania doesn’t have mid-sized companies field service companies
What is FieldOS
FieldOS is a comprehensive Asset Operations Management platform designed to streamline and enhance the efficiency of maintenance, reliability, and operations teams. It offers a mobile-first approach, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for field workforce management.
What is the start-up core services and what is expected in terms of development on the local digital market?
FieldOS is a field service and maintenance management software that can match the exact workflow of a field service company.
We provide a software that can be configured by non-programmers – business owners.
The users of FieldOS are “deskless workers” – service technicians, security guards, cleaning people, retail workers, drivers, etc.
How many people are working in the start-up and which are their specializations? What are the challenges for a start-up in local economy and what are the key advantages
We are a team of 7 people. The main challenge is Romania doesn’t have mid-sized companies field service companies. In Romania about 90% of the field service companies have 1-3 field technicians and 5% have 100+. The 90% with 1-3 field people don’t need a Field Service Management software and the 5% with 100+ field people want a customized software. That leaves a very small market to target.
The key advantage is that it can provide a solution for the SMB market that has the pricing and specifications for this type of customers.
What does it mean to be part of the Orange Fab accelerator program, how did it help and what are the major achievements so far?
Because Orange has 200+ Corporate/Enteprise sales people it means FieldOS can have direct access to hundreds/thousands of large companies. It has reduced a lot the whole sales cycle:
- No need for a BDR – all intros made by Orange sales people
- No need for contract negotiations (1-3 months if done directly)
- 1 year contract and payment in advance instead of monthly payment
What is the perspective of the development of start-ups pool in Romania and what do you think it can boost their development?
Romania has a good pool of technical talent. It lacks:
- the sales / business know-how
- Money to support product development / marketing & sales activity
- Low involvment from corporations that can buy their products
Which are the business ambitions on the medium term in your industry and what kind of projects are in sight?
For FieldOS:
- Expand in US & UK
- Find 2-3 verticals with high interest and focus on those verticals
With Orange we are focusing on:
- Education (universities mainly)
- Municipalities / Local transport companies
- Water management companies
- City councils
- Field Service companies
