eMAG: 186 employees graduated from the career acceleration program Upgrade in two years
The accelerated career development program Upgrade, initiated by eMAG to support employees to adapt to the current needs of the organization, has been completed by 186 colleagues out of 525 enrolled in the three editions in which it has been held so far.
Of these, around 70 have acquired a new role, and some of them have even changed their department, migrating into other roles, from customer relations teams to technology, commercial or finance teams.
Also, 34% of participants in the first three editions of the program trained for roles in technology, 26% for People & Organization, 15% for marketing and 9% for a commercial career. In two years, all participants went through three complex learning modules: the career counseling module with 720 individual or group career coaching sessions, the technical skills module – with more than 3,500 hours of learning in dedicated courses and workshops, 1,148 of mentoring meetings with specialists from within the organization on various roles, and in the last module they completed over 90 courses in which they went through sessions to develop transversal skills that will help them for their future roles.
If until now Upgrade was intended for young people at the beginning of their careers, starting with the fourth edition, which debuted in May of this year, the program is also addressed to colleagues from eMAG with experience who can thus prepare for roles with more a lot of responsibility and who want a career change, either in their field of activity or in another field or department.
“Encouraged by the very good results recorded by our colleagues at the beginning of their careers, with the launch of the fourth edition, the Upgrade program has become more flexible, according to the needs and degree of maturity that the organization has reached, but also with the desire our mission to give people the opportunity to continuously train. Through this program we offer our colleagues the opportunity to develop new skills, but also to receive new challenges. We want to stimulate internal mobility, even between different departments, and ensure that each of our colleagues has a role adapted to their wishes, aspirations and skills,” said Cosmin Dodoc, VP People & Organization eMAG.
Each Upgrade edition lasts, on average, ten months and includes modules such as: career counseling – group and individual, mentoring sessions and courses for the development of technical skills, but also workshops dedicated to the development of future skills, such as project management, the ability to identify and implement solutions to problems, self-leadership, public speaking or critical thinking. eMAG constantly invests in the growth of the team and has developed over time People Management Academies or dedicated to departments, programs for the career advancement of the new generation of leaders such as Future25 and Upgrade or initiatives dedicated to seniors in the company such as Grow Talent, executive development programs carried out in partnership with universities such as Harvard, MIT or the London School of Economics.
