Accenture successfully completes the fourth edition of the Digital Skills Academy, providing access to digital skills for over 850 children in Romania
Accenture, a global leader in professional services, has successfully completed the 4th edition of the Digital Skills Academy, which ran from March 1 to June 15, 2023. The program was organized in 38 schools across the country, in partnership with Teach for Romania and Junior Achievement Romania.
“The successful collaboration between Accenture, Teach for Romania, and Junior Achievement Romania is part of our commitment to education and youth development. We are delighted to see the enthusiasm of the children as they learn something new, whether it’s creating a strong password for their email or programming a character on the screen to move from one point to another. We are proud of all the projects they have developed during the Digital Skills Academy, together with our volunteers, and we know that these projects provide an important foundation for them to engage with a changing digital world and thrive in their professional lives,” said Aliona Hlusov, the initiator and coordinator of the Digital Skills Academy program at Accenture.
As part of the program, over 850 talented children, aged 9 to 14, from 38 schools had the opportunity to acquire essential knowledge about the digital world from 91 Accenture volunteers across the cities where the company is present. This year’s curriculum covered topics such as “PC Components” (computer evolution, peripheral components, operating systems), “Using Microsoft Office Apps” (text input, images), “Internet Safety” (password structure, phishing, cyberbullying), and “Scratch Programming” (algorithmic thinking, game creation). These learning modules contributed to the development of children’s digital skills, preparing them to successfully adapt to a continuously changing digital world.
“Every year spent in the Digital Skills Academy has taught me new lessons about myself and has provided me with the opportunity to pursue my passion for working with children. The boundless energy and curiosity that these children convey are truly priceless to me. I am grateful that I can contribute to expanding the horizons of these wonderful children and make a positive impact on the community,” said Delia Dunduc, an Accenture volunteer.
During the summer, Accenture will organize a similar special edition for Ukrainian children, so that they can continue their learning in a safe environment and develop their digital skills.
Accenture Romania remains dedicated to its mission of bringing positive change to the community through social responsibility projects and initiatives, as well as supporting the development of digital skills among young people and promoting diversity and inclusion in the technology sector.
