ANIS 2023 grants – 6th edition: University teaching staff can obtain grants of 5,000 euros / project for new technologies and innovative methods introduced in the teaching process

ANIS, the Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry, announces the launch of the sixth edition of the ANIS Scholarships program. The ANIS scholarships are aimed at young teachers who integrate new technologies and innovative teaching methods, within the courses or laboratories of the university curriculum. A novelty of this edition is the acceptance of applications from doctoral students, in addition to those of course holders and university assistants. As every year, the members of the application review committee are reputable professors from all major university centers and industry representatives from the top management of major companies.
The projects selected at the end of the evaluation period will each benefit from a scholarship of 5000 euros.
The calendar of the 6th edition of the ANIS Scholarships 2023 program is as follows:
• Program launch: May 16, 2023
• An online information session for those who wish to apply: June 7, 2023.
The event will be attended by winners from previous editions, as well as members of the evaluation committee and potential candidates. The event registration form is available here. The purpose of the online event is to clarify all aspects of participation in the ANIS 2023 Scholarships so that as many academic staff and PhD students as possible can register their projects.

Universities have great difficulties to recruit, train and retain young teachers, and on the other hand, the subjects they teach students must be frequently updated with the rapid technological advance of recent years”, said Corina Vasile, Executive Director of ANIS.
In 2023, the ANIS Scholarships program proposes the following 7 categories to which candidates can enter projects:
• Big Data
• Cybersecurity
• Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
• Virtual Reality
• Blockchain
• Internet of Things
• Tech for All (the introduction of technology courses in non-IT faculties).
Eligibility
To be eligible, teachers must be up to 40 years old, be course holders, university assistants or doctoral students and integrate innovative teaching technologies and methods in the courses and laboratories of the 2023-2024 academic year and fall within -one of the mentioned categories.
Proposed courses or labs must demonstrate the introduction of new technologies and/or new and innovative teaching methods in the 2023-2024 academic year. Courses and laboratories may be newly introduced in the academic year 2023-2024 or updated at least 50% in the current year or 60% in the last two years.
Registrations for the 2023 edition are expected between September 1-24. After registration, the selected candidates will have an interview with the members of the evaluation committee, and in November the grants will be awarded for the projects selected during the ANIS Scholarship Gala 2023. 280,000 euros – the value of the scholarships awarded in the last five editions
In the last five years, through the ANIS Scholarships program, 56 teaching projects have benefited from sponsorships, which have obtained grants with a cumulative value of 280,000 euros. In total, in the previous editions, 152 projects were registered, coming from 51 faculties, located in 11 university centers. At the same time, several collaborations between companies and the academic environment on R&D projects were born through the program.
At this year’s edition, the companies Adobe, Eviden (an Atos business), Bitdefender, Deutsche Bank, Endava, Softbinator Technologies, Wipro have already expressed their interest in the financial support of the program.
