ANIS survey: More than 60% of companies expect the figure to increase
of business in 2023, but also to increase the active teams in Romania
The global crisis in the technology industry, manifested also by massive layoffs among giant companies, will have a relatively small impact on the local IT landscape. This is the conclusion of the ANIS Sentiment Survey – a survey carried out for the first time by ANIS, the Employers’ Association of the Software and Services Industry, at the level of member companies, between January and February 2023.
Following the ANIS Sentiment Survey, the association found out that:
• 65% of responding companies expect revenue to increase in 2023. Only 4.8% expect revenue to decline, while 30.2% expect revenue to be similar to 2022.
• 68.3% of companies expect to finish 2023 with a larger team than in 2022, while 22.2% still don’t know to what extent they will lay off or hire this year. Only 9.5% expect a reduction in the Romanian team.
• 61.9% of respondents estimate that customer investments in IT projects this year will increase, while 38.1% estimate a decrease at this level.
“On the one hand, these results make us happy because they demonstrate the fact that there is no crisis at the level of the local industry, and the impact of the global one is relatively small. On the other hand, a good number of our members express a certain degree of caution this year, both in terms of income and the predictability of the projects they work on. Only one indicator is certain during this period: over 60% of companies want to hire, which can be explained by the enormous shortage of specialists, already existing and perpetuated from one year to the next. Our hope, as an employers’ association, is that this feeling of caution will be one of the pessimistic scenarios of the industry and, at the end of 2023, after we draw the line, the balance sheet will look very good”, explains Corina Vasile, Executive Director of ANIS.
Almost 50% of ANIS member companies participated in the survey. Of these, 23.8% are very large companies, with over 20 million euros in turnover, 23.8% with turnovers between 3 million euros and 20 million euros, 20.6% with revenues between 1 and 3 million euros and 31.8% with incomes below one million euros.
ANIS currently has 163 member companies from all segments, both startups and SMEs or large companies. Together, all ANIS member companies have more than 47,000 employees and a turnover of almost 65% of the total revenues generated by the IT industry at national level.
