Anca Rarău, the founder of Brandocracy, is the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania.
Anca Rarău, an entrepreneur and the founder of Brandocracy, the consultancy platform for branding and strategic marketing, becomes, for the next four years, the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania.
Anca Rarău began her term as Honorary Consul yesterday, by officially installing the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Cluj-Napoca. The inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Violeta Motulaitė, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania. Representing the Romanian authorities, the Cluj-Napoca mayor, Mr. Emil Boc, and the vice-county executive Mr. István Tasnádi were present, together with numerous business representatives. The responsibilities of the new Honorary Consul expand to 17 counties.
During the term of office, the new Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania aims to build and strengthen the bridges between both countries’ economic, cultural and educational environments. As an active member of a strong community of Honorary Consuls in Cluj county, Anca Rarău also intends to consolidate the multicultural aspects already present in Cluj-Napoca’s life and culture.
“It is the duty of the Embassy in cooperation with Honorary Consulates to promote economic cooperation and people to people relations between the two nations. The business environment and the governments are already brought together through the Three Seas Initiative (3SI), to which Lithuania and Romania also belong. In addition, Cluj-Napoca has a special relation with Lithuania. Vilnius and Cluj are connected by a XVIth century personality – Stephan Báthory, the Prince of Transylvania, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. His most significant merit regarding our bilateral relations was the simultaneous establishment of the Vilnius University and the Jesuit college in Cluj. These schools were united into a single educational unit in 1581. Today, we have to do our best to further strengthen the connections between our countries, by organizing business trips, seminars, exhibitions, cooperation among universities and research institutions.
I am convinced that the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Cluj-Napoca, Mrs. Anca Rarău, being an outstanding entrepreneur, branding consultant, mentor, speaker, and community builder will make Lithuania more visible in Romania and significantly contribute to the expansion of the bilateral relations”, declared H.E. Mrs. Violeta Motulaitė.
“It is an honour and a joy to me, as a Romanian entrepreneur, to be appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania and to be granted the privilege to create here, in Cluj-Napoca, a new hub where the economic, cultural and educational environments converge for companies, individuals and the universities in our countries. It is a responsibility which I have accepted heartily. I know that my professional experience stands as solid support in adding value to Romanian-Lithuanian relations”, stated Anca Rarău.
The mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Mr. Emil Boc, was also present at the inauguration of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Romania. He declared that ” it honors us to have the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania opened in Cluj-Napoca. It restates the fact that we share European values and the will to collaborate for the well-being of our communities. We are also connected by many links in culture, business, education, innovation, and youth programs. We can further build impactful projects and initiatives on these ties. Speaking on behalf of the Cluj community, I congratulate the Honorary Consul, Mrs. Anca Rarău, and I wish her all the best in her new mission!”
According to the respective legislation, the opening of Honorary Consulates and the appointment of Honorary Consuls is certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, by the issue of a Consular Patent bearing the state seal. The Honorary Consulate is opened following the consent of the competent authorities of the state of residence. The Honorary Consuls perform consular duties which do not involve the exercise of state authority and are not remunerated by any of the states. The title of Honorary Consul can be accessed by outstanding personalities in the economic, financial, banking, cultural, and scientific fields, renowned lawyers, who are financially independent and have an appropriate behaviour to the assigned position.
The founder of Brandocracy applied to become Honorary Consul in autumn 2021, a few years after having visited as a tourist, for the first time, much of Lithuania in a voyage dedicated to the Baltic countries. There, she discovered how much the two cultures have in common.
” We have so much to learn from one another, Romanians and Lithuanians. We have the tools to build projects that will add value. I am a strong believer and promoter of the power of togetherness. Relevant change and important results can only be achieved if we collaborate, with an open mind and heart. It is up to us to make the necessary steps. This is why I will engage my time, experience and connections to build solid bridges between our two nations. I trust that, working together, our efforts will create lasting results”, told the new Honorary Consul, Mrs. Anca Rarău.
The office of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania is situated in one of the most modern office areas in the city, in Cluj Business Campus.
