Starting with April of last year, the educational organization Școala de Valori moved its online courses, making the transition to education and training projects and workshops in the digital environment. In 2020, the School of Values managed to organize and conduct over 1,100 workshops, attended by more than 24,000 students and 6,000 teachers from across the country. At the same time, the association went among the most affected students, with the transfer of classes online, managing to conduct courses and workshops for 542 young people from disadvantaged areas and families. The online courses attracted more participants. The pandemic year meant a virtual journey for about 3,800 schools in 463 localities in the country.
Throughout the year, the School of Values delivered approximately 3,800 hours of education for students and teachers in the form of online workshops for personal and professional development, workshops for familiarization with digital platforms, as well as financial education courses. In fact, last year it totaled 3,500 volunteer hours, time dedicated to research, thinking and implementation of educational projects within the program of the School of Values.
“It is very clear to me that the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped education, radically and irreparably. However, the context created is not completely negative, because in any crisis there are opportunities, as was our case, because we managed to open the doors to the educational universal of the School of Values, for more young people in the country, through the model of distance learning. I believe that now, more than ever, we can strengthen the education of young people and adults through an intelligent, visionary approach, which emphasizes eco-systemic collaboration“, explains Silvia Bogdan, president of the Scoala de Valori association.
The organization came to support the state education system, preparing teachers for online learning, investing in their personal development, as well as in other components to help them develop creative and interactive teaching models.
Digitization proved essential in many areas last year, especially in education, which is why the School of Values created and organized digital workshops dedicated to teachers, as well as courses to teach them to use digital tools in conducting classes and to inspire them. towards a modern and creative teaching. On the other hand, pupils and students, in a disturbing educational system, had at their disposal projects that helped them to discover their potential, to train for future careers or to learn new fields, other than those included in the school curriculum. , to help them in both personal and professional development.
Last year, the School of Values also created vocational guidance and counseling workshops for students, creative teaching workshops for computer science and mathematics teachers, as well as programming workshops for both students and teachers.
Last but not least, the organization has joined forces with other associations and contributed to the development of the school modernization strategy through SELFIE – a tool created by the European Commission for the Development of Education, while coordinating a research project for the calibration of SELFIE WBL, this digital tool for companies that support technology high schools and vocational schools. 2020 also meant shaping a generation prepared for the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fields that create the jobs of the future. The organization has developed projects for young people in technology schools and is also looking for exceptional young people from all over the country to help them choose their careers.
