Four days remaining for teachers to submit for ANIS scholarships totalling 60.000 euro in funding
Association of the Software and Services Industry (ANIS) announced four days remained until the closing of registering for the second edition of ANIS scholarships programme that will award 12 teachers with 5.000 euro each.
The last day to submit for the programme is September 15. The companies that contributed to the programme are Adobe România, Atos IT Solutions and Services, Bitdefender, Cornerstone Technologie CST, DB Global Technology, Endava România, ENEA Services Romania, Qualitance and Wipro.
For this year’s edition, the university assistants who can propose solutions for updating the laboratory, with the agreement of the titular teacher, will be able to register, according to the prize will be divided according to the innovative elements introduced by each party (min. 50 % for university assistants).
The candidates will go through a preliminary evaluation process, based on the application and a video clip in which they will briefly present the innovative elements. Later, the finalists will hold an interview with the members of the evaluation committee. ANIS Scholarship Program was launched in 2018 at the initiative of ANIS and the representatives of the most powerful university centers, as an initiative to stimulate the efforts of teachers and innovative teaching techniques, as well as the introduction in the university curricula of the latest developments in the industry. The program will run at national level, with the winners benefiting from a scholarship worth 5,000 euros.
To be eligible, candidates must hold the title of doctor and didactic degree of lecturer or assistant professor and the age must not exceed 40 years. The courses proposed by them must be in the fields of: Big Data, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Fintech, Health Tech and, as new features for this year’s edition, were added Machine Learning (ML) technologies, Internet of Things (IoT) and Tech for All (encouraging STEM and non-IT faculties to build software products).
“The first edition of the programme enrolled 35 projects and it was difficult for us to choose only ten, the ideas and projects proposed by the teachers were at a very high level. For this reason, this year we decided to award 12 scholarships to young teachers. The success of the first edition resulted in an even greater opening from the companies and we are glad that we have raised a fund of 60,000 euros. All the parties involved, companies, teachers, university leaders, understood that only through close collaboration between industry and academia we can generate performance in the education system, “said Gabriela Mechea, ANIS Executive Director.
The winners of the first edition of ANIS scholarship programme are lecturers, heads of papers and lecturers in some of the largest university centers in Romania: Politehnica universities in Bucharest and Timisoara, ASE, West University of Timișoara, “Al. I. Cuza”and” Gheorghe Asachi “from Iasi,” Transylvania “from Brașov, Babeș-Bolyai from Cluj-Napoca and the University of Bucharest.
The “ANIS Scholarships” program will be carried out annually, with the long-term goals of stimulating teachers and bringing the latest competences and skills in the educational sphere, as well as the dialogue between industries and academic environment.
