Schwarz Global Services becomes Schwarz IT, a new name, the same expanded digital vision for the local market
Schwarz Global Services announces the official change of its name to Schwarz IT, after a period of strategic transformation that aimed to redefine the company’s role within the Schwarz Group. This change comes in the context of an organizational evolution carried out in 2025, as a result of which the Business Services division was transferred to Lidl International. Approximately half of the employees have been integrated into the new entity, while the rest of the team continues their activity within Schwarz IT.
The new strategy of Schwarz IT Romania focuses on developing IT products and services adapted to the real needs of the group and the local market. The company will continue to develop software, engineering, and operations projects and will maintain its partnerships with technology leaders such as Google and ServiceNow to offer stable, secure, and easily integrable solutions.
“The name change is a natural step for us and clearly shows what we do every day, we build useful, secure, and easy-to-use technology. This year’s transformation has allowed us to focus on what we do best, software development and IT services that support the digital infrastructure of the Schwarz Group. At the same time, we want to be a trusted partner in the local market and contribute to strengthening Romania’s IT ecosystem. We aim for sovereign digital solutions based on Google infrastructure, to which we add our own layers of security: encryption keys and backups are managed within our infrastructure. This model already works successfully in Germany, in projects carried out with major clients and partners, and we are bringing that experience to Romania,” said Octavian Ichim, CEO of Schwarz IT Romania.
Schwarz IT provides IT services and solutions that support the digital infrastructure and data security for the companies of the Schwarz Group – Lidl, Kaufland, Schwarz Produktion, and PreZero – and for innovation projects developed locally.
Through the STACKIT platform, the Group’s cloud provider, the company provides infrastructure services and cloud solutions operated exclusively within the European Union, including hosting, modern development platforms, and secure productivity solutions. In partnership with Google, Schwarz IT provides Google Workspace with client-side encryption, allowing users to maintain control over their encryption keys.
Cybersecurity is also a priority. The company uses the XM Cyber platform to identify and quickly remediate vulnerabilities and collaborates with partners such as SentinelOne for the protection of systems, data, and identities.
In the software area, Schwarz IT manages the entire lifecycle of the Group’s applications, from development and implementation to operation and evolution. The projects include the digitalization of retail processes, AI-based solutions, and advanced data analytics platforms.
