SAP supports the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, promoting technological education and professional development of students

SAP and the Association for the Technology of the Future announce the launch of SIMfo, a laboratory within the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest.
The lab, supported by SAP, aims to enhance the education and professional development of students and features state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Also, through the SAP University Alliance program, SAP provides educational resources based on industry expertise.
SIMfo will host both standard university courses, as well as internships, seminars, specialized workshops and summer schools involving SAP experts, offering valuable learning opportunities in areas such as business AI, software architecture, cloud data, autonomous agents and other technologies of the future.

In 2024, SAP Romania supported the Association for the Technology of the Future by redirecting, in accordance with local legislation, a portion of its corporate tax to the association, with the association using the funds to renovate and equip the laboratory at POLITEHNICA Bucharest.
“We are extremely proud of our collaboration with SAP and of the fact that this lab, created with the support of the Association for Future Technology, represents a significant step in the professional training of our students. Together with SAP, we offer the students of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest an innovative educational environment, based on state-of-the-art technologies, which will allow them to learn and apply cutting-edge solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, software architecture and cloud computing. This lab will support the development of our students’ technical skills, helping to prepare them for future industry challenges and strengthening the link between academia and the professional world,” said Ioan Ștefan Sacală, President of PRECIS Research Institute.
SAP University Alliance – access opportunities to leading educational solutions and resources for universities
The project is a valuable complement to the collaboration between SAP and the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest through the SAP University Alliance. Through its membership, POLITEHNICA BUCUCUREȘTI benefits from access to leading SAP solutions, including SAP S/4HANA, and essential educational resources.
“At SAP, we are committed to helping the world work better and improving people’s lives. Our vision is to capitalize on the best in every business and we believe our strategy is also shaped and brought to life by nurturing the next generation of innovators,” said Anja Schneider, Senior Vice President, Global Head of Premium Engagement & Advisory, Customer Services & Delivery at SAP.
“Education underpins progress and innovation. That is why we are very happy and proud that this laboratory created by the Association for the Technology of the Future at the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest has come to life. Together with the representatives of the university, but also with the help of our colleagues, promoting an environment based on learning and collaboration, we are happy to offer students hands-on experience through access to our technologies and remain committed to cultivating the talent that will shape Romania’s technological future,” said Diana David, Managing Director SAP Romania.
Any university can apply to become a member of the SAP University Alliance, a global program that enables higher education institutions to integrate SAP software into the educational process, giving students and faculty access to the latest SAP education resources and technologies. Specifically, the company provides member universities with educational licenses (which cannot be used for commercial activities), pre-configured data for business/industrial entities and processes, specialized courseware and train-the-trainer courses. In concrete terms, the same products that they will use after graduation in industry are made available to students from member faculties.
SAP will continue to support POLITEHNICA Bucharest by organizing training workshops and summer schools, in parallel with the integration of SAP technologies into the academic curriculum. In this respect, other initiatives are underway to include SAP solutions in the curriculum of some faculties within the university.
SAP works with Romanian universities to train future technology professionals
Through its experts and partners, SAP is constantly and actively involved in various educational activities, including presentations, practical workshops, and in-depth courses within the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs of several universities in the country.
A significant example of collaboration is the partnership with the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, which has integrated SAP education into the curriculum of several faculties, including the Faculty of Accounting and Management Informatics where SAP is taught (the use of economic processes such as those found in the modules FI – financial, MM – supply, SD – sales and distribution, PS – project management and PP – production) from bachelor’s to master’s degrees (IG – Management Informatics being a master’s degree where SAP configuration for a company code from FI, MM, SD to PP is taught), to the rest of the master’s programs, CAIG (in Romanian and English) – Accounting, audit and management informatics, CCE – Accounting, control and expertise, CFEE – Accounting and taxation of economic entities, CI – International accounting, CPA – Audit concepts and practices, at national and international level, teaching the use of economic processes at an advanced level. Moreover, SAP specialists are directly involved in the SIMPRE master’s degree (Information Systems for the Management of Economic Processes and Resources) at the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics, and in recent years they have also contributed to the e-Business and Economic Informatics master’s degrees within the same faculty.
