Orange’s 5G/5G+ network available in Botoșani
Orange announced the expansion of the 5G/5G+ network in Romania, Botoșani becoming the 40th city where the network becomes available.
The city of Botoșani completes the map of areas with 5G/5G+ coverage, the Orange 5G network becoming available in 40 cities throughout the country, such as: Arad, Bacău, Baia Mare, Brașov, Brăila, Bucharest, Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Constanta, Galați, Iasi, Miercurea Ciuc, Pitesti, Sibiu, Suceava, Oradea, Timișoara and Târgu Mureș, localities in Ilfov county, mountain and summer resorts. Also, the number of cities with 100% 5G coverage has steadily increased, these being Arad, Bacău, Baia Mare, Bucharest, Miercurea-Ciuc, Oradea, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Suceava and Târgu Mureș.
Orange’s efforts to expand 5G/5G+ mobile networks come in the context of the constant increase in the need for users to have access to high-speed Internet, a trend also highlighted in the ANCOM report on the “Market of electronic communications services in Romania”. Thus, the average monthly consumption of mobile internet at the national level, per user/month, was 11.8GB in the 2nd semester of 2023, an increase of 22% compared to the first semester of the same year. At the same time, the number of active Internet connections on 5G technology registered a significant increase of 217% at the end of 2023, compared to the end of 2022.
Orange will continue to expand the 5G/5G+ network in new cities, to facilitate the access of a growing number of customers to the best connectivity speeds and 5G technology.
