Narada, together with Zitec, are developing the first AI pilot in the field of education in Romania
Narada and Zitec aim to make education in Romania better for 500 thousand children using AI technology
In the context of the explosion in the field of artificial intelligence, the Narada organization, together with Zitec, is developing the first AI assistant pilot for the educational environment. Narada has assumed the role of an innovator in education since its inception and has continued on this path year after year through all its projects. In the context of the rapid worldwide development of artificial intelligence technology, Narada understood that it was an area in which it was necessary to engage, research and test.
The first step is to develop a pilot AI assistant in education with benefits for both students and teachers. Zitec, as a technology partner, joins the project with the vision of supporting digital transformation in education and having a positive impact in society. Adapting its expertise of two decades to the specific digitization needs of the educational environment in Romania, Zitec prioritizes the use of the latest and most competent technological solutions. Artificial intelligence thus becomes a tool used to simplify the lives of teachers and students who need modern-day skills assessment solutions.
With an Agile, iterative and incremental approach, the two organizations work as a unified team, building a pilot AI assistant that designs assessment tests with minimal input from the teacher. In the current version, the pilot can provide several types of questions (multiple-choice, single-choice, or true-or-false) depending on the chapters chosen by the teacher. At this moment, the solution addresses the subject of Romanian language and literature, possibly covering other subjects in the future. Another benefit for teachers by using this application is to reduce the time needed to design assessment tests, and the time thus gained could be used by them to improve the educational act and solve including other types of problems and emergencies in education.
As it happens in the case of teachers who are part of the Narada community and who, outside of their teaching or training hours, are involved in improving aspects that affect many schools in the country, in chapters that (still) endanger the safety of students . In addition to signaling the alerts listed by them in HartaEdu.ro, regarding electrical installations that are too old, improper roofs, doors and windows that are too worn, extremely worn furniture or the lack of spaces designed for recreation and reading, part of the emergencies that consume financing from education to the detriment of those related to the educational act itself, they also get involved in solving them.
This AI assistant app is in the testing phase, and Narada’s long-term plans include exploring more technology solutions that can accelerate the goal of reaching over 500,000 children in the coming years.
“At Narada, our dream is for every child to have access to education that fulfills their potential. We looked at technology and the Internet as the tools that can help us reach as many children as possible, with as much impact as possible. This is how we ended up with over 1,300 alerts on HartaEdu registered by over 1,000 teachers, of which 282 were solved with the help of investments from dozens of companies. Today we are also experiencing a historic moment – the next level of technology evolution where Artificial Intelligence applications come out of the backstage of big companies and researchers and become accessible to the masses. Like any tool, Artificial Intelligence can be used in various ways, and we aimed to be among the first to use it for good, and we expected more organizations to join us”, Raluca Jianu, Narada CEO.
“Our collaboration with Narada on the first AI pilot project in education in Romania is just the beginning. Zitec’s commitment to using cutting-edge technologies for the benefit of specific customer needs has provided efficient and scalable solutions over the past 20 years, setting the stage for an integration artificial intelligence. We expect AI to become a standard adjunct in education, accelerating the transformation of the education industry for the benefit of pupils, students and teachers”, says Marius Gherghe, Business Line Director of Continuous Improvement Services Zitec.
In the next three years, over 47% of learning management tools will be powered by AI. Research shows that 20% to 40% of current teacher workloads could be automated and leveraged using AI technology, and an AI chatbot can answer a student’s question in just 2.7 seconds.
