Accenture: The winners of Change4Impact hackathon were announced
The application where members of a local community can exchange things they no longer use, a smart energy management solution and an NGO-type program for the social inclusion of children from disadvantaged backgrounds are the winning projects of the Change4Impact hackathon, organized by Accenture.
The first edition of the Change4Impact hackathon announced its winners. Organized in a hybrid system, the hackathon brought together at the start several teams that proposed various innovative solutions to create a more sustainable world. The participants had 36 hours to complete the projects on the two main topics: Environment and Social.
The winners are:
1st place – Designerds team with the E-barter application.
It is an application developed in Romania that encourages people to change their new or used household items found around the house. The first users may be those from existing Facebook communities. Using this application you can save 10 million liters of water on 3,500 changed clothes, 69 thousand kg of CO2 emissions per 1,000 changed phones and about 300 kg of food per year.
Second place – Optimized Future Project team with the Ewolt application.
This application allows electric car owners to help expand the storage capacity of the electricity grid by making part of the capacity of their car batteries available to the power distributor. Thus, they can achieve a lower energy cost and at the same time contribute to a more efficient and resilient network.
Third place – Brașov Team with the Repath project.
An NGO-type solution for the social inclusion of children from disadvantaged backgrounds by providing psychological counseling and professional guidance. The proposed solution will help them find a job and build a career. The total value of the prizes offered amounted to approximately 10,000 euros.
The Change4Impact jury was made up of professionals with experience in IT, but also university professors and sustainability experts: Tamás Levente, associate professor. Prof. at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and CEO at Robotics.AI; Kőrösi Csilla, Industry X Innovation Lead & Accenture Romania Corporate Citizenship Lead; Emilian Bouros, co-founder of GIA – Global Independent Agency; Assoc. Dr. Christian Săcarea, Vice-Rector of Babeș-Bolyai University; Andrei Coșuleanu, President of the Act for Tomorrow; and Sorin Cebotari, Advocacy coordinator at the Cluj Community Foundation.
The Change4Impact event, held at the end of May, meant a hackathon and a conference on sustainability issues, and was organized with the support of Act for Tomorrow, Transylmagica, Cluj Community Foundation, Babeș-Bolyai University, Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, University Technician from Cluj-Napoca, Devmind Academy, Codette, BEST Student Association from Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest, Hermes Society, Digitalio, ROTSA, Cybernetics Students Union and Mathematics and Informatics Students Association.
