Philippe Gabulon, Societe Generale GSC: “Leaders need to listen far more to the needs of their employees”
“People have changed during the pandemic and I don’t think we will return to a pre-covid situation. If you look at the US, for example, 38 million people have resigned last year and a good part of them didn’t have a job. So, they were looking for something different, and it’s the same for most people. Yes, people change jobs at certain extent for salary hike, but they also move for some jobs where they find things that matter for them.
Some people don’t want to work anymore for companies that are not doing the right thing for the environment, for the communities. People are looking for something different, and leaders need to fulfil these new needs of their employees. Leaders need to listen far more to the needs of their employees. We will not come back to the same situation as before the pandemic. We will work differently and with more care for the community and the world in general,” Philippe Gabulon, CEO, Societe Generale Global Solution Centre said during Romanian Business Services Forum 2022 organized by Outsourcing Today.
“Developing stickiness or the sense of belonging is a challenge. It’s very important to take time to connect with your people, and that can be difficult in an online working environment.
There is a widening gap between people of different generations. Some people are telling me they are happy with the company, but that they cannot wait 6 months, for example, to work on an interesting new project. People are interacting differently; they have different timelines for what they expect.
We need to do things that are more meaningful and more fulfilling at an individual level.”
