Daniela Micusan, Majorel Romania: “You need to take certain risks to retain your talent”
“People are the core of any business. You need to adapt the social component of technology. Here is the beauty of being a leader. Engaging people is not only doing some actions. The really important exercise is to listen to what they want. This helps you understand what makes them feel comfortable, why do they choose you as an employer, why are you different.
Employees need the feeling of belonging. We did actions like mentorship programs for developing them, even online. We hired certified psychologists to help our people to regain their trust. The core message was we trust our people, we empower them, and we take care of their wellbeing, of how they feel. Going the extra mile meant leadership in the pandemic. We did that and I’m proud that we grew by almost 1,000 people during the pandemic. We hired them online, we onboarded them online, and we made them feel as part of our company culture as well,” Daniela Micusan, Managing Director, Majorel Romania said during Romanian Business Services Forum 2022 organized by Outsourcing Today.
“The feeling that you are part of something bigger is one of the pillars of retaining people. Retention is the key word for the talent you already have. We decided to do a talent enrichment program where we give juniors the chance to develop themselves and to see what it means to go to the next level.
We are not working anymore with the classic setup of layers. We are working with a new concept, with a team which is helping by all means. We don’t run with management only, we run with people being involved and they go where the show goes.
The better you find the right profile, the better you are able to retain the profile. This helps on a longer term. People dedicate themselves on a long run if they believe in their added value to the core of the business, and the core value they add for their customers.
You need to take certain risks to retain your talent, to make them feel challenged and integrated and having them do something meaningful.
What inspired me as a leader is a sentence that I have heard long time ago: be the change you want to see in the world and try to live the butterfly effect. Lead by inspiring your people.”
