Skanska inaugurates the first rooftop running track in Romania, on the top of Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings in Bucharest
Skanska, the largest developer of office buildings in Europe, inaugurates the first rooftop runway in Romania. The track is 280 meters long and is located on the roof of the Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings in Bucharest.
The running track on the roof of the Campus 6.2 and 6.3 buildings has a length of 280 meters and is provided with two circular lanes that go around the roof, offering a 360 ° view over Bucharest. The buildings on Campus 6 have 11 levels, the track being at a height of about 42 meters, where employees can run outdoors, with a panoramic view over the entire city.
The final layer of the track is made of tartan certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations for use in all international athletic competitions. The well-being of employees is an issue that companies and organizations have become increasingly concerned about, as is the case in Skanska. Employees working in the 2 buildings can now enjoy outdoor exercise right from the office or relax in the specially arranged area next to the track, which is also equipped with a tennis table.
“Skanska has taken on the mission of shaping the buildings and communities it forms in ways that help people thrive and perform to the highest standards. The Skanska buildings encourage a culture of health and well-being, all expressed through a variety of innovative elements, such as the runway on the roof of Campus 6.2 and 6.3, the first rooftop runway on an office building.” says Raoul Mihalca, Project Manager within the development division of Skanska CEE in Romania.
The rooftop runway on Campus 6 in Bucharest is not the first of its kind built by Skanska. Among the capitals in the Central and Eastern European region where Skanska has integrated this type of employee facility are Budapest, where the track is to be completed with the delivery of the H2Office building and Prague, where the 150-meter runway on the roof of the building Visionary was launched in 2018.
“We are happy to be able to talk today about a new innovative element that highlights the two buildings on Campus 6 – the runway on the roof. The completion of the runway lasted 4 weeks and 13 tons of tartan were used in its construction. Although it is a recreational track, the high quality material used for the track surface is certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations ”adds Igor Hristenco, Project Manager within the construction division of Skanska CEE in Romania.
Skanska promotes the integration of physical activity into daily life, providing opportunities and support for an active lifestyle. In addition to the new running track, the architecture of the Skanska buildings offers opportunities to move even at the office, as well as areas specially designed for relaxation and recreation. Skanska also encourages the movement through the use of alternative means of transport, providing bicycle rental services or stands for parking the personal bicycles of employees who choose a healthier means of transport, solar chargers for electric scooters, as well as locker rooms and showers.
Skanska’s concern for the environment and well-being is also recognized by the pre-certification of LEED Gold, which attests to the efficiency of buildings in terms of consumption and sustainable strategies implemented by these buildings and the pre-certification of WELL Silver, a confirmation of Skanska’s efforts to build an environment that contributes to improving the nutrition, fitness, mood and performance of its occupants.
