Laura Băiașu, Client Delivery Excellence Head Europe BPS, Wipro: Critical thinking becomes indispensable in the age of AI
In an age saturated with information, the true intellectual effort no longer lies in accessing data, but in discerning its meaning and determining how best to use it. The abundance of available knowledge does not, in itself, constitute understanding. What matters is our capacity to interpret, evaluate, and synthesize what we encounter. From this perspective, critical thinking becomes indispensable. Too often, attention is directed primarily toward outputs—answers, results, immediate solutions—rather than toward the quality of reasoning and reflection that produces them, stated recently Laura Băiașu, Client Delivery Excellence Head Europe BPS, Wipro.
The statement has been uttered within the recently held event of Wipro’s India Romania AI Pre-Summit 2026, an affiliated event leading into the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi and organized together with Embassy of India in Romania.
Within the special dedicated session on the impact of AI on academic learning and corporate operations and services, Laura Băiașu added: Equally essential is an ethical approach to information. It is neither simple nor straightforward to teach individuals to perceive the underlying assumptions, biases, and implications embedded within data. Yet this depth of awareness is crucial. As agentic AI systems and advanced technologies acquire increasingly sensitive capabilities, the stakes grow higher. Users must remain vigilant regarding the responsible handling of personal, organizational, financial, and other confidential data, all of which may be exposed to significant risk if treated carelessly.
At its best, AI offers profound support—not by replacing human intelligence, but by amplifying it. By capitalizing on AI’s capacity for rapid processing, data analysis, and automation, we can relieve ourselves of routine cognitive burdens. In doing so, we create space for distinctly human strengths: creativity, discernment, ethical judgment, and deeper, more resourceful forms of thinking.
