What awaits us in 2026? Leaders in Tech identified three AI trends that will reshape companies and management teams
Artificial intelligence is swiftly transforming the ways in which organizations make decisions, structure their teams, and create value. In this evolving landscape, effective leadership emerges as a crucial differentiator. Leaders in Tech, an NGO dedicated to training Romanian managers across the technology sector and beyond to lead teams in the age of AI, has identified three key trends that are poised to shape the business environment in 2026.
Following more than 30 events organized by Leaders in Tech throughout 2025, in conjunction with recent market research, experts from the organization underscore three major AI-driven trends that will define the agenda for business leaders in Romania and the surrounding region in 2026:
- Teams are evolving into hybrid structures, with managers leading both people and technology
As artificial intelligence becomes embedded in day-to-day operations, organizations are shifting toward leaner, more autonomous, and outcome-oriented teams. In this new model, leaders are required to orchestrate both human talent and technology in parallel.
PwC’s Job Barometer 2025 highlights the rapid expansion of AI adoption across all industries, including traditionally conservative sectors. In parallel, BCG research points to a decisive move away from hierarchical, pyramid-based structures toward organizations built around hybrid teams combining people and intelligent systems. - AI is emerging as a driver of growth, not merely a tool for cost optimization
For a growing number of organizations in the region, artificial intelligence is no longer confined to efficiency gains—it has become a core growth strategy. Since 2022, industries with high AI exposure have achieved nearly fourfold productivity gains, while sectors with lower exposure have largely stagnated.
This evolution is clearly reflected at the leadership level. According to the PwC Global CEO Survey 2025, half of all CEOs view AI integration into business processes as a strategic priority over the next three years, and 70% expect AI to fundamentally reshape how their organizations create value, including through the development of new revenue streams.
- Skills are transforming at an unprecedented pace
A third major trend is the accelerating shift in required skills and its growing impact on the workforce, particularly in entry-level roles. Pressure on the labor market is expected to remain intense throughout the year.
BSI research shows that 41% of business leaders believe AI enables workforce reductions, while 31% of organizations now assess AI-based solutions before considering new hires.
Against this backdrop of rapid transformation, Leaders in Tech provides managers in technology and adjacent industries with a structured professional development framework aligned with the realities of emerging technologies. The program supports the development of leaders capable of managing AI-augmented teams and translating technological innovation into measurable business outcomes
“The leaders who will truly make a difference are those who understand that AI does not replace human thinking—it amplifies it. The manager’s role is evolving into one of orchestrating collaboration between people and the entire AI capability ecosystem—tools, models, automations, and agents—in ways that accelerate decision-making, increase value creation, and build long-term capabilities. Leaders in Tech exists precisely to support this transition, ensuring that no manager has to navigate it alone,” says Bogdan Popescu, Co-founder of Leaders in Tech.
Founded in 2024, the NGO Leaders in Tech now brings together over 150 leaders actively involved in designing programs, events, and community initiatives, more than 100 mentors and industry experts, and over 200 mentees, including a dedicated track for managers stepping into their first leadership roles.
In 2025 alone, the community organized more than 30 events and learning formats and facilitated over 300 hours of one-to-one mentoring. These initiatives generated hundreds of professional connections among leaders based in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Chișinău, and across online communities, supported by partnerships with leading companies in technology, telecommunications, and digital services.
