Major UK Internet infrastructure provider RETN enters Romanian market

RETN, a British provider of internet infrastructure and network services present in 41 countries, has opened a branch in Romania, according to a company announcement. The company’s latest major infrastructure project, due in September 2024, was the construction of a new cable route between Milan and Zurich.
The new 300km route joins the company’s existing 135,000km global network. RETN has also installed cables in Romania as part of a 2023 project linking Budapest to Sofia via Timisoara.
RETN Romania is headquartered in Sfântul Gheorghe, Covasna County, and its main activity is telecommunications through cable networks. Founded in 2003, the company operates a high-capacity backbone network, which extends over 135,000 kilometers and includes more than 875 points of presence (PoP) in Europe, Asia and the United States. According to AS Rank, RETN ranks 12th globally among Internet service providers, based on the size of its customer network.
The company has over 16 offices in Europe and Asia, including cities such as London, Frankfurt, Kiev, Amsterdam, Milan, Singapore and Hong Kong.
