EUCOM expands its activity on the B2C market and launches English courses for individuals and targets businesses of almost 2 million euros
Language skills are becoming increasingly important as companies need employees who can handle cross-border collaborations and interactions with global customers.
To meet this need, the EUCOM company launched business English courses for individuals and plans to attract more than one million customers by 2030. Until now, EUCOM has focused on providing courses for company employees, but the demand for English language courses remains high as employers continue to be interested in preparing their employees for a globalized business environment. At the same time, the company estimates that in 2024 it will register a turnover of 1.8 million euros, up from the level of 1.5 million euros recorded in 2023. The Romanian labor market is increasingly focusing on upskilling and reskilling initiatives, especially in response to skills shortages and the demands of globalization. A notable trend is the growing importance of knowing foreign languages, especially in business sectors.
As Romania becomes more integrated into the global economy, professionals are looking to improve their communication skills to remain competitive in international business environments.
“By launching these courses, we are continuing our mission to support the professional development of over one million people by 2030, giving them the tools to successfully navigate the global business environment. Whether it is improving communication skills in a foreign language for better integration into the international labor market, or career advancement, EUCOM offers a modern and effective educational environment supported by resources and teaching methods innovative. It is important to say that EUCOM will offer those interested a free initial test of the level of knowledge of a foreign language”, said Delia Dragomir, EUCOM co-founder.
Romania has one of the lowest participation rates in lifelong learning in Europe, and this gap has contributed to labor market challenges. Upskilling through language courses is one way professionals tackle this problem, as knowledge of English, German, French and Spanish is highly valued by employers in sectors such as IT, finance and customer service. In its more than 20 years of activity, EUCOM has helped more than 150,000 adults improve their language skills, and this year it has already organized 44,000 hours of individual training and 5,300 course sessions, reaching 36,600 people, an increase of 46 % compared to the same period last year.
The most requested foreign languages remain English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, and the busiest periods for courses are spring and autumn. Also, the biggest demand for EUCOM services comes from Bucharest. With a team of over 200 specialized trainers, EUCOM now responds to a diverse audience, offering customized solutions for the development of language skills, essential in a globalized environment. EUCOM also aims to support employees who want to be promoted or take up international positions within companies, regardless of whether employers cover the cost of the courses or not.
