BMW opens IT solutions center in Cluj
BMW Group is expanding its global network of IT and software centers by opening a new location in Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with NTT DATA. The joint venture will double its workforce to 250 experts by the end of the year. In the long term, the goal is to reach over a thousand employees.
“BMW TechWorks Romania joins a global network of IT centers that already includes locations in Germany, South Africa, the USA, Portugal and China,” says Ralf Waltram, Vice President of the BMW Group.
Current Projects in Cluj
- Connected Procurement: Complex supply chains and control systems require integrated IT systems.
- Digital Shopfloor: Modern production IT as a core element of BMW iFactory, BMW Group’s intelligent production program.
- Direct Sales Model: Development of central IT components for the implementation of BMW and MINI’s direct sales model in Europe.
The focus is on developing and implementing IT solutions for the European region.
The goal is to achieve a turnover in the tens of millions of euros by the end of the year, according to the company.
The center will develop IT projects and solutions for BMW to be used in production, development, human resources, sales, and financial services.
BMW Group and NTT DATA have been collaborating worldwide on a wide range of projects for over 30 years. NTT DATA is a provider of software services and solutions. The group is headquartered in Japan and employs nearly 200,000 people globally.
