Early Game announces the first investment of its newly launched EGV Fund II: 900,000 EURO in Relock, a cybersecurity startup established by Polish founders
Early Game has just invested 900,000 EURO in Relock, a Polish cybersecurity startup developing a new technology to protect APIs, as part of a pre-seed round, following its #leadearly credo once again.
Relock provides real-time protection of access to company’s APIs and data they exchange, while ensuring immediate threat detection and fail-safe disconnect of any attack attempt.
APIs are the backbone of any tech company. They are fundamental to the proper functioning of any process or business function. They are the veins through which data flows. Protecting your company’s APIs is paramount, yet so neglected.
It takes, on average, seven months for a company to identify and shut down unauthorized access to its APIs. This means that, throughout the entire period, an attacker or a malicious insider is able to access mission-critical systems, breach sensitive data, and orchestrate further fraudulent activities. Simply put, it takes seven months for a tech company to realize that it is being robbed.
Relock’s tech is based upon a new and creative approach to API access management, a very effective reimagining of how things should work in all security-related matters. This new approach is the company’s secret sauce, and it is where the might of the new technology resides. Also, this new approach is what makes possible powerful features such as instant breach notifications, accurate and real-time access logs, immediate access denial etc. Moreover, Relock makes breaking the security layer of your API completely meaningless. Why make the effort if you need to break the system again after each and every API call? Then again and again.
The potential of Relock’s technology as a stand-alone product or integrated into the larger solutions of players such as Okta or Kong was what made Early Game buy into the company’s pre-seed round.
Marcin Sznyra, the founder and CTO of Relock stated: “The new high-frequency secrets rotation engine we developed bridges many security vulnerabilities. The early adopters have appreciated its value for APIs, as well as other critical uses, such as cloud assets or user security. Thanks to Early Game, we can accelerate our product development with the first applications coming soon.”.
Florin Visa, the Early Game Partner who oversees the deal, stated: “As the digital environment becomes increasingly ingrained in our world, cybersecurity threats are constantly evolving. Investing in advanced cybersecurity solutions now holds the potential to not only address today’s critical problems, but also to become a transformative force for global technology as it matures.”
Overall, Early Game pre-seed investment in Relock confirms VC’s thesis of leading early rounds and providing capital to promising startups irrespective of their development stage or financial needs. Early Game is the right VC fund for brave startups seeking a lead investor ready to take risks.
Early Game Ventures (EGV) II is a venture capital fund capitalized by the Recovery Equity Fund, managed by the European Investment Fund, and financed by the PNRR within the Next Generation EU.
