The representatives of “Babeș-Bolyai” University (UBB) and those of the co-founding companies MHP Consulting Romania, Porsche AG and NTT DATA Romania are celebrating 10 years of successful partnership between the academic and economic environments, 10 years dedicated to future leaders in the field of technology.
This innovative partnership marked a national first: the first Computer Science degree program taught in German, offering graduates outstanding career opportunities and a promising future in the IT industry.
With a successful start in 2014, through the Study in Computer Science program in German, within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of UBB, the partnership expanded in 2018 with the launch of the Master’s Program “Advanced Computer Systems: Modeling, Design, Development”, in within the same faculty. In 2022, this partnership expands with two other study programs in German, this time within the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Management (FSEGA), also within UBB – “Business Administration” (undergraduate level) and “Management International” (at Master’s level).
“After the establishment of the MHP Consulting Romania subsidiary, one of our main missions was to support the academic environment. Looking back, I believe that this was the best decision I could make, because there is an interdependent relationship between the academic and business environments, in which the private environment assimilates everything that the academic environment produces. Education and the concept of excellence in training occupy an important place in the culture of the entire MHP group. From our perspective, education must be an integral part of any vision oriented towards a better future. Every opportunity to speak directly with students is a special moment for me. I enjoy meeting them, exchanging ideas about their concerns, and I am often impressed by their skills, not only in the technical field, but also in the entrepreneurial field. I am inspired by their ambition and desire to leave their mark on the future through innovation. I am delighted that we have enjoyed a long-lasting partnership, now entering its 10th year. We want the continuation of this partnership, which contributes to the growth and training of talents”, declares Bernd Otto Hörmann, CEO of MHP Consulting Romania.
NTT DATA Romania marks, together with its partner companies, 10 years of constant support of German language education programs within the UBB.
“For NTT DATA Romania it is an important moment, confirming a solid partnership that started a decade ago. It is a visionary, long-term project whose results are visible over time. Almost 1,000 students and master’s students benefited from this study program and were able to lay the foundations for their professional careers by acquiring technical skills and improving their knowledge of the German language. We will stay with UBB and continue to support education for all students from Cluj who vocationally choose technical education programs in German”, said Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania.
According to UBB representatives, the Computer Science program in German is one of the university’s most successful initiatives and stands out for its exemplary collaboration between the university environment and private companies. Over the years, the program has attracted more than 600 thousand euros in funding from the private sector and educated more than 900 students and master’s students, thus becoming one of the most innovative study programs offered in German at UBB. The German language study line has its own innovation hub, under the Science Café brand, through which more than 50 projects have been carried out in collaboration with partner companies and universities. This innovation hub is dedicated to top students studying in German.
“The development of the Computer Science program in German took place in close collaboration with its strategic partners, MHP Consulting Romania, Porsche AG, NTT DATA Romania, who have become top employers for the graduates of the program. This collaboration, based on excellence, is a special premise for continued collaboration in the future, facilitating the creation of innovative projects and providing students with access to high-quality resources and expertise. In addition, the synergy between UBB and the co-founding companies not only improves the educational experience of students, but also contributes to the development of the IT industry by training well-trained professionals capable of responding to the complex demands of the global market”, declares Prof. Univ. Dr. Christian Săcărea, UBB vice-chancellor.
The continuous collaboration between the three entities also ensures a constant flow of innovation and adaptation to new technologies, keeping the program up to international standards and strengthening its reputation as a leader in IT education in German.
