UiPath Foundation: #communitYOU – A global community of volunteers and meaningful impact in 2023
UiPath Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate access to quality education for children from disadvantaged communities, releases its 2023 Annual Report, marking a year of significant achievements and continued growth. The concept of this year’s report, #communitYOU – Where Community Meets You, reflects the foundation’s philosophy to value the contributions of each individual in support of the collective good, and to emphasize the importance of a solidary community of volunteers in the UiPath company.
#communitYOU is more than a play on words; it’s a philosophy, a call to action, and a celebration of the unique contributions each person makes to the UiPath Foundation’s mission. A community of dedicated volunteers In 2023, UiPath Foundation volunteers contributed an impressive 4,200 volunteer hours, engaging in various educational activities for children or providing technical support to automate the foundation’s administrative processes.
This community includes 145 volunteers from the UiPath company. These volunteers are true agents of change, having a positive impact in the lives of children from disadvantaged backgrounds
Educational programs
Leap To The Future
The first program of the foundation, Jump to the Future, turned four years old in 2023. It supports children between the ages of 11 and 15 from disadvantaged communities in the counties of Vaslui, Galați, Olt, Cluj, Botoşani and Bucharest. In 2023, 200 children participated in the program, who had weekly meditations in Romanian, mathematics and English, various educational activities, a monthly scholarship, mentoring, medical and psychological support and a summer camp. Children invested a total of 16,124 hours in formal educational activities and 6,152 hours in non-formal educational activities.
Caleidoscop
Caleidoscop program also had a considerable impact in 2023, involving 826 high school students from 83 partner high schools in Romania and the support of 170 partner teachers. High school students participating in the program were supported with weekly English language and digital skills development classes, monthly scholarships, tablets with internet access, but also with other types of educational resources, through the Kaleidoscope educational digital platform. The program has achieved a participant retention rate of over 95%.
UiPath Foundation volunteers also developed automations for efficient platform management, thus improving the student experience in the program and saving valuable time that the foundation team invested in educational activities for high school students – for example, an automation of the Caleidoscop platform allowed instant sending of 800 contracts to high school students.
Thus, the UiPath Foundation team gained 30 hours or about 4 days of work.
Steps To School
The Steps to School program reached over 4,300 preschoolers, providing access to essential educational resources. A total of 19 female educators completed the “Future Educator” training, and a number of 840 pre-school teachers participated in literacy learning sessions.
More than 2,626 books were distributed to children and teachers, and 150 kindergartens received reading kits.
Nurture Teachers’ Potential
In 2023, two courses were prepared for Leap to the Future and Caleidoscop teachers to help them support children with respect and gentleness.
19 teachers participated in anti-bullying courses, and 15 teachers participated in professional development courses, thus impacting 680 students. In total, 33 projects were implemented in schools by the participating teachers.
“As we reflect on 2023, we realize that our long-term impact is not sustainable unless we work together. Impact is born as a collective effort, fueled by the unwavering dedication of our team, board members, the global UiPath community, volunteers, partners and our generous donors. In this way, I express my sincere thanks for the constant commitment that allows children from disadvantaged communities to carve their own path to the future”, says Raluca Negulescu-Balaci, Executive Director of the UiPath Foundation.
Other imajor activities in 2023
In the context of the war in Ukraine, the UiPath Foundation continued to provide support to Ukrainian refugee children in Romania. Through partner organizations, play workshops, art and music classes, psychological counseling and community events were offered to Ukrainian children and their families. Also, through the partnership with Hope and Homes for Children, the foundation facilitated access to Romanian language courses, psychological counseling and medical services for 206 children from Ukraine, including 183 institutionalized refugee children and 23 children who took refuge with families in Romania. In India, alongside Girl Up India, an initiative of the UN Foundation, the UiPath Foundation supported the Swarachna School, bringing modern technology into classrooms to support girls’ education.
Three classrooms were equipped with modern technology benefiting 545 girls. In addition, 30 girls benefit from a monthly scholarship. The UiPath Foundation obtained, in 2023, an international certification from Keeping Children Safe, a global organization that developed the best practice standards in child safeguarding, for the implementation of the policy for the protection and safety of children. Thus, the foundation strengthened its commitment to prioritize children’s safety in all its activities. Five years of the UiPath Foundation In 2024, the UiPath Foundation celebrates five years of work dedicated to transforming the lives of children from disadvantaged communities.
The foundation is grateful for the essential contribution of the partners and volunteers in the UiPath ecosystem, without whom it would not have had this rate of growth. For more details, and to download the 2023 Annual Report, you can access this link.
