Minister Bogdan Ivan announces the launch on the MCID website of the #nofake platform for reporting deepfake content
Today, the Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Bogdan Ivan, announced the launch of the #nofake platform through which Romanians can report inappropriate content they see on social networks.
The platform can be accessed on the website of the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization (MCID), at https://www.mcid.gov.ro/nofake/.
“The #nofake platform will function as a point of contact for the analysis requests that Romanians make regarding digital fakes, derogatory content, misinformation and online manipulations. Thanks to our private partners – Google, Meta and TikTok – for their efforts so far. They have managed to implement very effective systems whereby a substantial part of deepfake content is blocked even before publication. This new reporting mechanism will work complementary to the efforts so far and to the possibility that each social network already offers, through its own reporting tools. The #nofake platform will ensure the rapid reporting and analysis of those few materials that could pass the filters implemented up to this point by each individual social network,” Minister Bogdan Ivan said.
The #nofake platform operates as a temporary reporting channel in the year 2024 and aims to ensure the integrity of democratic elections, both at the local, national and presidential levels, and at the European level.
