Prysmian opens the IT Center of Excellence office in Bucharest
Prysmian Romania, one of the most important cable manufacturers in the country and in Europe, opened an office in Bucharest, in the Mindspace coworking space in Pipera area.
“The decision to open this office space stems both from the desire to be close to our colleagues and to offer them better working conditions, but also from our desire to be close to our partners, who want to learn more about Prysmian, without necessarily having to travel to Slatina. We all know that interaction between people has a greater impact than any call or virtual meeting, and therefore we want to offer the best conditions for those who want to discover our products and the Prysmian universe”, said Daniela Burca, COO Prysmian Romania.
“We are delighted to see important Italian investments in Romania and why it is important to have companies like Prysmian in this economic environment. Prysmian is important for the development of relations between Italy and Romania as well as the company’s presence on the international market. I am glad to be here and Prysmian proves through its activities that the company is crucial to the new economic trend worldwide, and will continue to be more prosperous”, said H.E. Alfredo Durante Mangoni, Ambassador of Italy to Romania.
“The presence in a collective physical space of employees represents a multitude of benefits and I personally appreciate the decision to open the Bucharest office as an extension of the IT Centre of Excellence in Slatina. It is known at the Ministry level that Prysmian’s IT Centre of Excellence is a very important project that recognises Romania’s high specialisation in IT.” said Terente Ciui, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy.
“The fact that we are here in Romania is not a cost-cutting measure, but to appreciate the high specialisation in IT of Romanians. We are building a Centre of Excellence here because we believe in Romaniana and its potential. People will work with us globally, alongside colleagues in California, Germany or New Zealand. We are present in more than 50 countries, and this will show how important the Centre of Excellence we are developing is for the innovation of the whole group”, said Giovanni Cauteruccio CIO & CDO Prysmian.
The Bucharest office is an extension of the IT Centre of Excellence in Slatina, where all the factory’s digital processes are managed. The Centre of Excellence is looking for SAP business analysts and IT infrastructure developers which will be able to train the new team to the highest standards. Subsequently, IT Center of Excellence personnel will be able to access various different programmes and opportunities across Prysmian. The total investment in the Prysmian IT Centre of Excellence will total approximately €40 million over a period of 6 years. Of this, €7.5 million is part of state aid from the Romanian state, obtained in 2022.
At Prysmian’s coworking space in Mindspace Bucharest, Prysmian employees based in the capital will also work. This will lead to a more efficient management of Prysmian’s factory processes and save time spent commuting to Slatina whilst contributing to increased productivity. In the Bucharest office, 30 people will have a new workspace, a number which includes employees of both the Center of Excellence and those in transit.
