Orange Business obtains the Uptime Tier III Design certification for the Cluj-Napoca West data center
Orange Business obtained, for the Cluj-Napoca West data center, the Tier III Design certification from the Uptime Institute, the most important world authority in the field of data center auditing and certification. It is the first time that a telecommunications operator from Romania, but also the first time that an Orange subsidiary in Europe receives this certification.
The Uptime Tier III Design certification certifies the redundancy, resilience and compliance with the availability requirements of the Cluj-Napoca West data center, the main technical characteristics being: 99.9982% availability, ensuring almost uninterrupted operation; concurrent maintainability, which allows maintenance to be performed without stopping the system; redundant capacity components, providing an increased level of safety and reliability.
Thus, both Orange Business customers who have the main data center in Cluj-Napoca West, as well as those who need back-up or disaster recovery solutions in the region benefit from a robust and internationally recognized infrastructure. Also, the guaranteed level of availability, ISO certifications and specific technologies contribute to the fulfillment of customers’ internal requirements for compliance with the Tier III standard and other standards of the industries to which they belong.
The design, implementation and certification of the Orange Business Cluj-Napoca West data center were done together with the technological partner Tema Energy. The company supplied and installed the most advanced and efficient systems and technologies in the field, which ensure the almost uninterrupted operation of Orange Business customers’ solutions and infrastructure, such as: redundant electricity supply, redundant and efficient air conditioning, fire detection and extinguishing solutions fire protection, high-level physical and IT security, seismic protection and permanent proactive monitoring, etc.
“Orange Business has a unique offer on the Romanian data center market, and this certification, a first for the Orange Group in Europe, but also the first obtained by a Romanian telecommunications operator, once again shows our commitment to providing reliable and high quality services. Cloud migration and digital transformation have significantly increased companies’ reliance on service provider IT infrastructure, and Tier III certification is a guarantee for our customers that the data center has been built to rigorous standards and that the assumed level of service availability is attested ,” says Florin Popa, Director of Orange Business.
Orange Business technology partner Tema Energy brought to this project a complex team of highly qualified specialists and engineers in electrical engineering, mechanical installations, air conditioning, firefighting, communications and physical security. Tema is the only local company that managed to design and build data centers approved by the Uptime Institute at the Tier III level, almost the highest level of resilience internationally.
“Building a data center and certifying it according to Tier III standards is a complex and technically challenging process. We are glad that the data center built by Tema Energy in Cluj for Orange Business has obtained this accreditation. It shows both Orange’s commitment to offer services at the highest level of performance and redundancy, but also the ability of Tema Energy’s engineering team to build and design data centers at the level of the most demanding global standards. Moreover, these investments in data centers equipped and designed to international standards show the degree of development of local data centers, for the benefit of companies and the Romanian digital industry,” says Mihai Manole, general director of Tema Energy.
