Bucharest Tech Week starts next week, the largest festival of technology and innovation in Central and Eastern Europe

Bucharest Tech Week, the largest festival of technology and innovation in Central and Eastern Europe, will take place between May 22 and 28. The first five days, organized under the name Business Summits, are dedicated to niche conferences, focused on Innovation, HR, Retail, Java and Software Architecture, which will take place at the NORD Events Center by Globalworth. On the weekend of May 26 – 28, Romexpo Pavilion B1 will host the largest exhibition of technology and innovation in Central and Eastern Europe – Tech Expo, open to the general public.
The seventh edition of Bucharest Tech Week brings together over 70 speakers, international and local tech experts, 1500 professionals from various fields and business verticals and over 100 companies, which will present their products and services to over 30,000 technology enthusiasts, wait during the seven days. The main partner of the event is Orange Business, the business division of the Orange Group in Romania, which supports companies and local public administrations throughout their digital transformation process.
The official opening moment of Bucharest Tech Week will take place on Monday, May 22, at 9:30 a.m., at NORD Events Center by Globalworth.
The following will participate in the opening ceremony: Stelian Bujduveanu, Deputy Mayor of Bucharest, Dragoș Tohănean, Vice-President of the Authority for Digitization of Romania, Florin Popa, Business to Business Director Orange Business, Tobias Matter, Head of BOSCH Engineering Center Cluj, Lavinia Neagoe, Director of Engineering & Bucharest Technology Site Lead Google and Alexandru Măxineanu, Managing Partner Universum Expo. The event will be opened with an official message from the Prime Minister, Nicolae Ciucă, presented by Mr. Sorin Costreie, adviser to the Prime Minister.
During the five days of Business Summits, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with partner companies and explore their activation areas, where they will give live demonstrations and provide details on the technologies they have developed. Orange Business, Bosch, Google, Undelucram, Mastercard, George by BCR, Luxoft, Sodexo, Up Romania, _VOIS, Codezilla, M247, N-able, Romanian Software, LucaNet, Relex – re:innovate are just some of the biggest brands present. Various key moments will take place during the 5 business summits, including presentations and demonstrations by recognized experts.
Among them are Rahaf Harfoush, NYT Best Selling Author & Executive Director of the Red Thread Institute of Digital Culture, who was part of the communication teams of Barack Obama and Emmanuel Macron, Enzo Romero, General Manager of Lat Bionics, who will have a demonstration with a bionic hand, but also Dr. Harry Kloor, the creator of Beomni – a humanoid robot capable of performing complex tasks.
Bucharest Tech Week dedicates the weekend of May 26 – 28 to the largest B2C exhibition – Tech Expo
The official opening of the Tech Expo will take place on Friday, May 26, at 15:00, at Romexpo, Pavilion B1 and has as guests Sebastian Ioan Burduja – Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitization, Sabin Sămaș – President of the Commission for Information and Communications Technology from the Chamber of Deputies, Dragoș-Cristian Vlad – President of the Authority for Digitization of Romania and Stelian Bujduveanu – Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Bucharest. At the same time, representatives of the event’s main partners will be present, such as Florin Popa – Business to Business Director at Orange Business and Augusta Ene – Director of the Engineering & Data Solutions department at Bosch.
Energy efficiency and innovative technologies in the automotive industry
Bosch will be present with some of the most advanced engine technology, including the limited worldwide Kawasaki Ninja S2SE equipped with radar sensors developed by the Bosch team. Visitors will also be able to test the driving simulator, where they will see how cars perceive their surroundings with the help of cameras developed by Bosch. Among other things, the company will also offer a virtual experience through which visitors can explore Villa Bosch in Germany.
At the E.ON stand – “Future Energy Home” visitors will be able to discover in an interactive way the complete services and solutions for energy efficiency, photovoltaic panels and other solutions for low consumption and costs. In addition, also at the E.ON stand, visitors will be able to discover the project of Dominic Marcu, who will tell you about his famous electric car – the first Tesla Model 3 Performance in Europe transformed into a racing car, with which he will participate in the National Speed Championship in the Coast.
At the same time, within the exhibition there will be an area dedicated to electric and hybrid cars, where models from brands such as Nissan, Jeep, Fiat, Hyundai, Toyota, Skywell and Suzuki will be presented. At the same time, electric scooters with a dynamic and easy-to-use design, useful in urban agglomerations, will be able to be tested free of charge by visitors in a specially arranged area.
State-of-the-art devices and robots
Other innovative products, such as state-of-the-art devices, will be presented by HONOR – which will come to the exhibition with the new phones – HONOR Magic 5 Pro and HONOR Magic 5 Lite – alongside a smart watch, for the first time in Romania.
Pudu will bring to the participants autonomous and intelligent robots used in various fields, such as delivery services and restaurant assistance.
OPPO, a brand known for the advanced technologies and design of its phones, will be present with various models and will do live demonstrations with the newest products in the portfolio, and on OnePlus phones they will hold live gaming sessions.
The OrCam company presents a revolutionary wearable device – its model of glasses for the blind, which can instantly read from any surface, recognize faces and identify products, barcodes, banknotes, colors and tell the exact time.
Gadgets and equipment for smart homes
The Legrand company will present smart solutions for security, heating, air quality and weather solutions at the exhibition and will also provide information on Green UP electric charging stations.
TechCuisine.ro, one of the market leaders in the field of home automation systems, which offers smart equipment for heating and cooling control, such as smart thermostats, various automatic control systems for curtains and blinds, autonomous garden, smart faucet for gardening, smart sockets and bulbs, smart locks, etc. In the segment dedicated to smart homes, visitors can also find equipment such as wet&dry&wash vacuum cleaners from Tineco or purifiers and dehumidifiers from AlecoAir.
STS, for the first time at Bucharest Tech Week
The Special Telecommunications Service, one of the key institutions in the digital transformation of the Romanian state, will be present for the first time at Bucharest Tech Week. During the technology event, STS will present on the open stage the challenges of the digital future in the management of the 112 Emergency Service.
Live gaming competitions
Moreover, fans will be able to enjoy, on the one hand, a gaming competition organized at the Lenovo stand or they will be able to play FIFA live, a competition organized by FC Rapid Esports. At the same time, QwertyKey will be present at the exhibition with mechanical keyboards, mice, keycaps, deskmats, switches for keyboards, dedicated to this segment.
Special moments from the Tech Expo agenda
In addition to the areas specifically dedicated to innovative tech products and solutions, such as gadgets, electric vehicles, smart accessories, smart home and smart living products and systems, smartphones, laptops, tablets and robots, a stage will be set up where there were panel discussions, presentations and demonstrations.
For example, the BrainMap Neuroscience Institute will present state-of-the-art medical equipment that allows people to see what’s going on in their brain and how they can “reprogram” it by changing already acquired patterns of thought and behavior. The Future of Tech Startups panel will provide an overview of the situation of tech startups in Romania, respectively of the strategies to be followed.
At the Manna Food Solution session, participants will have the opportunity to taste a new product, a pill that replaces a full meal. The founder of the company will speak, in the dedicated panel, about the implications of technology in the future of the food industry. On the other hand, on the same day, representatives of the Voidship company will talk about the new nano and microsatellite launchers, which aim to reduce launch costs, pollution and make orbital payloads more efficient.
On the last day of the event, there will be an informal discussion with Daniel David, Psychologist, Professor, Rector of Babeș-Bolyai University and Member of the Romanian Academy, about the effects that the incredibly rapid progress of technology has on young people and how the risks can be turned into opportunities. At the same time, Ionuț Panea, Coach of the Romanian AutoVortex National Robotics Team, will talk about the team’s worldwide successes and demonstrate, together with his students, how one of the robots they created works.
