SAS invests in Romania’s future, accelerating the digital transformation with analytics and AI
During the press conference organized at Babeș-Bolyai University, SAS, leader in analytics, highlighted the potential of Romania to be one of the regional technological hubs and to lead the national progress in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Advanced Analytics.
SAS reaffirmed its commitment to invest in Romania’s ecosystem, focusing on three main pillars – people, technology and business. Technology is developing rapidly, and countries are facing the challenge of having a skilled workforce ready to adopt and use the most advanced tools for the development of society and the business environment. In recent years there have been drastic changes in labor requirements and, at the same time, a lack of qualified professionals, able to understand business needs. The ability to use analytics tools and obtain information through them is essential for the development of digitalization of government administration and the business sector.
“Romania is in the top of the region in terms of digitalization, and we are determined to contribute to the development and acceleration of this segment, by capitalizing on the current momentum and offering our expertise. We believe that it is not just about the technology itself, but also about people, technology and business, and we are actively investing in all three pillars, in the entire region“, mentioned Shukri Dabaghi, SAS VP CEMEA.
The Master’s program, which is already underway at UBB and two more universities in Romania, is part of SAS’s commitment to train 5,000 data science specialists in Romania by 2025, helping top companies and public institutions accelerate their digital transformation journey. by adopting innovative AI and analytics technologies.
“As Cluj-Napoca has been recognized as the Romanian center of technological innovation, we know that our university must stay ahead and offer competitive programs specializing in cutting-edge technologies. We offer a unique master’s program – Data Science for Industry and Society – that contains 715 hours of data science learning content and is 90% SAS, including free courses and software provision, ”said Daniel David, Rector of Babeș-Bolyai University.
SAS continues to deliver on its promise to invest $ 1 billion in the development of AI technology, education and services. A significant portion of SAS’s annual revenues are reinvested in research and development to optimize life cycle analytics for its customers. At the same time, we are working on innovative projects and initiatives in all industries in Southeast Europe and continue to develop the Center of Excellence in Analytics, which can act as a bridge, connecting different organizational units of the company, promoting collaboration and defining best practices for analytics. , to improve business results.
“One of our main objectives is to strengthen the presence and address several initiatives in the field, acting as a state partner in implementing the National Strategy for Digital Transformation in Romania, a country that has an important geographical position and functions as an essential strategic and technological center for SAS. The South East Europe region had one of the fastest growths last year, despite the difficulties. The “appetite” of these countries for new technologies, for digital business models and innovation is truly extraordinary and admirable. At the SAS level, Romania has the great opportunity to continue to lead digital development and to start using the power of data analytics, machine learning, automation and AI, which will significantly improve the daily life, public and private of Romanians, and which will facilitate the development of the business sector “, adds Tayfun Topkoc, SAS SEE Regional Director.
