Symfonia Group expands into Austrian Tax Advisory Software Market with dvo Software acquisition
Symfonia Group, an established Central European software company with more than 30 years of experience and over 55,000 customers, including 6,700 tax advisory firms, which is present in Romania as Symfonia Romania, is entering the Austrian market through the acquisition of dvo Software, a leading Austrian provider of software for tax advisory firms.
The transaction underscores Symfonia’s commitment to the tax advisory sector, one of the key strategic markets for the Group, and marks the company’s first entry into the DACH region. It represents another step towards building a strong European software ecosystem based on local expertise, trusted customer relationships and deep industry knowledge. This is the second acquisition finalized by Symfonia Group this autumn, after the addition of Setrio in its Romanian portfolio.
With the acquisition of dvo Software, Austria becomes the third country in which Symfonia Group operates, after Poland, where the Group was founded and is headquartered, and Romania, where it has built a consolidated presence. Symfonia Romania, which recently fully integrated the acquired companies NextUp and Softeh, brings local expertise in ERP, payroll and HR software, developed through years of work with Romanian companies and their specific legal and fiscal requirements. Setrio, the most recent acquisition in Romania, adds a strong presence in software for the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.
The acquisition of dvo Software in Austria brings together a shared ambition: to substantially increase the productivity of tax firms through smart software. dvo Software, founded in 1967 by tax consultants for tax consultants, has spent decades developing solutions that make complex work simpler. Today, 4,000 users in Austria work with dvo’s tax consulting software, benefiting from a comprehensive solution that includes practice management with fee billing, automated workflows, a secure communication platform, and a document management system, as well as financial accounting, tax management, and an asset register, with a particular focus on automation and the use of artificial intelligence, including in the dvo BelegBox accounting management tool.

The dvo Software brand, the team, and the focus on the Austrian tax consulting market will remain unchanged. Rainer Haude will continue to run the business as dvo’s CEO ensuring the continuity that dvo’s clients expect while accelerating the pace of technological development.
“We share Symfonia’s focus on the tax consulting industry and the goal of substantially increasing productivity in tax firms through smart software. We can now drive forward our already ambitious AI investment program in the dvo software with even greater momentum,” said Rainer Haude, CEO of dvo Software.
“The Austrian market is currently undergoing a period of upheaval, partly due to Datev’s departure from Austria, and thus offers interesting opportunities. For dvo, the partnership with Symfonia is a major opportunity to accelerate our technological development while simultaneously providing our clients with the continuity they expect from us”- adds Rainer Haude.
For Symfonia, the acquisition is an opportunity to bring its distinctive approach to artificial intelligence into one of the most demanding and regulation-sensitive sectors. Over the last three decades, Poland has become one of the greatest economic success stories – a country that transformed itself and is now widely recognised as one of the EU’s highest-growth economies. Symfonia’s own journey reflects that ambition.
“With dvo Software, Symfonia is entering the DACH region for the first time, and we intend to grow further here. Symfonia has evolved from a traditional software provider to a cloud-first company rooted in European technology heritage, and we want to bring that momentum to Austria. dvo understands Austrian tax firms like no one else. We bring technology and regulatory compliance expertise. Together, we will give these firms solutions that genuinely increase their productivity and that they can fully trust,” said Piotr Ciski, CEO of Symfonia Group.
Together, dvo’s deep knowledge of the Austrian tax profession and Symfonia’s global-grade technology, sector expertise across finance, HR and documents, and proven ability to combine software with regulatory know-how create a stronger foundation for the future. Austrian tax firms gain a partner that understands their day-to-day reality, keeps their data secure in local data centres, and invests consistently in the intelligent, compliant automation their profession requires.
The acquisition also extends the European software ecosystem Symfonia Group is building, in which each local company contributes its own market knowledge and benefits from the expertise of the others.
Symfonia Romania becomes part of this exchange alongside the Polish and Austrian teams, gaining access to dvo’s experience in automation and AI for tax firms and to its detailed knowledge of the Austrian regulatory environment. In return, the Romanian teams bring their own sector expertise, including in software for pharmacies and the medical sector.
Over the long term, the Group also aims to share suitable products across its markets, focusing on solutions that depend less on country-specific accounting, payroll and tax regulations and can therefore be localized more easily. For Romanian customers, this exchange means quicker access to technologies already tested in other European markets, adapted locally by teams who know Romanian legal and fiscal requirements.
