Fab Lab Iași celebrates 9 years with the communities that build the city

Between September 25 and October 4, the Communities Week brings 13 events to FAB Central and FAB LAB 1

Fab Lab Iași turns nine years old and transforms its anniversary into a meeting of the communities that gave life to its spaces. Between September 25 and October 4, 2026, the Communities Week brings together 13 events organized by local groups and initiatives from entrepreneurship, technology, design, human resources, architecture, photography, education and personal development.

Opened in 2017, in partnership with the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași, Fab Lab has grown from a single space into a local network of coworking and collaboration. Over the years, entrepreneurs, specialists, students, freelancers, companies and organizations have worked and met here, launching projects, forming teams and building professional relationships.

This year’s anniversary shifts the focus from the space to the people who make it relevant. Instead of a single festive event, Fab Lab Iași offers the stage to the communities around it: some reactivate their members, others open the conversation to new audiences, and all have the opportunity to discover common points and possible projects together.

Nine days in which communities open their circles

The program combines professional meetings and informal formats: discussions on entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence, meetings of professionals in HR, design, tech, governance, risk and compliance, architecture and personal style workshops, a book club, photography, youth leadership and activities dedicated to parents.

The events take place at FAB Central and FAB LAB 1 and are organized together with people and communities who have used, over time, the Fab Lab spaces.

The Communities Week starts on September 25th, when the morning show Radio HIT Iași moves to FAB Central, continuing a tradition that we have at each inauguration of a new Fab Lab space.

FAB Community Activator brings communities to the same table

The central moment of the week is the FAB Community Activator, scheduled for October 1, at 18:00, at FAB Central. The meeting is dedicated to the communities that have been part of the Fab Lab story and proposes a direct conversation about how active groups in different fields can better collaborate.

The starting point is a simple question: what would happen if all these communities started to see themselves as part of the same ecosystem? Participants will be able to exchange experiences about building and maintaining a community, but also identify resources, ideas and initiatives that can be developed jointly.
