Zyxel Group receives SBTi approval for carbon reduction targets
Zyxel Networks, a leading provider of secure and AI-powered cloud networking solutions, today announced that Zyxel Group’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets have been officially validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). This approval confirms that Zyxel’s decarbonization approach aligns with the 1.5°C objective of the Paris Agreement, strengthening Zyxel’s commitment to climate action and environmental sustainability.
Zyxel’s validated targets include:
• Short-term targets: Reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the 2021 baseline; and reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 58.8% by 2034 compared to the 2023 baseline.
• Long-term goals: reduce absolute Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050 compared to the 2021 baseline; and reduce absolute Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2050 compared to the 2023 baseline.
To achieve these goals, Zyxel has launched a comprehensive low-carbon transformation strategy. Key initiatives include installing solar power systems to increase the use of renewable energy, implementing a digital carbon management platform to track and manage emissions data, and replacing outdated equipment with high-efficiency manufacturing technologies to increase energy and operational efficiency.
In addition, Zyxel actively engages its supply chain to reduce emissions. Through green procurement practices, product carbon footprint management, and supplier collaboration, Zyxel is building a resilient, low-carbon value chain in partnership with customers and stakeholders worldwide, leading the collective progress towards a net-zero future.
To further amplify its impact, Zyxel continues to optimize product design by integrating low-carbon innovation and circular economy principles. Efforts include improving product energy efficiency, extending product lifespan, and increasing the use of recyclable materials to reduce carbon emissions throughout the life cycle. Zyxel also follows the TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) framework to regularly assess climate-related risks and opportunities and ensure transparency in disclosing emissions data and progress towards net-zero commitments.
