CGS Romania: 90% of the employees with senior, middle or top management positions are internally recruited
90% of employees in senior, middle or top management positions within Computer Generated Solutions (CGS) Romania, the leader of the local business process outsourcing (BPO) market, were promoted from within the organization, according to a statement of the company.
However, even though they initially joined the company in an operational position, the investments in training and specialization, as well as the well-planned career ascent plan, propelled them to higher positions.
“From the very beginning, the philosophy of CGS Romania was to identify and hire potential people, in which we constantly invest to keep them in the company and to promote among them. From our point of view, our employees are driving forces and we are open to new ideas and approaches that they come to management teams,” said Vladimir Sterescu, Country Manager CGS Romania.
At this moment, CGS Romania operates on the local market seven support centers in Bucharest, Brașov, Sibiu, Târgu-Jiu, Miercurea Ciuc, Galați and Constanța, where it operates approx. 4,000 employees. Of these, approx. 52% are women, while the average age of the CGS team is only 24-25 years. Also, about 95% of the company’s employees are graduates or students of higher education institutions.
“The company motto is ‘Friends working together’, which defines both the local work environment and the attitude of colleagues in all our centers. In addition, precisely because the working atmosphere is open, we offer the possibility of any employee to evolve, to express his opinion, to take a step forward. But it is very important for any colleague, regardless of position, to know that he is encouraged to raise his hand and come up with new ideas that can help him in his evolution in the company”, said Vladimir Sterescu.
When it comes to the main skills that candidates must have in a position within CGS Romania, the representative of the company stresses that in-depth knowledge in a particular field is not important, as the proactive spirit and the communicative, flexible, open to new nature. Computer operating knowledge is required, because any job in CGS is done through it. Kindness is also very important, so people skills play a vital role in the recruitment process.
Permanent opportunities for development
Starting with trainings dedicated to entry-level positions and ending with mentorship programs for employees who want to develop and promote, CGS offers lifelong learning opportunities. Each member of the team can benefit from continuous training offered by both internal trainers and direct managers and team leaders. Thus, people who develop certain skills and who have clear skills have the chance to be promoted.
“However, the most important aspect is that CGS Romania supports performance and involvement in an attractive working environment and offers intensive training and training sessions for all employees. Thus, a person, for example, on an entry-level level who demonstrates his or her skills for a Customer Service Representative position has great chances to promote, and can then become a Team Leader, Quality Assurance Specialist or Trainer. This often happens within the company,” said the representative of CGS Romania.
In order to evolve within the company, employees must have the courage to apply for open positions, in segments such as Operational, IT, HR, Training and Management.
“90% of our employees who hold specialist, middle or senior management positions promoted from within the company and had the chance to grow in time in the field they chose, with the help of colleagues and trainings offered. In addition, all CGS directors are young people who have entered entry-level positions and now lead even more than 1,000 people in the new positions,” added Vladimir Sterescu.
