Hornbach, one of the main local retailers of construction and gardening materials, is strengthening its local presence by expanding its IT HUB in Romania. This initiative reflects the company’s commitment to attract talented specialists to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative technological solutions in modern retail, thus expanding its IT competences for all 9 countries in which HORNBACH operates.
“The Romanian IT HUB represents an essential pillar in our strategy of internationalization of technological aspects within the company. He will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of innovative technology projects for the entire Group,” said Andreas Schobert, CTO and member of the Board of Management of HORNBACH Baumarkt AG.
The choice of Romania for this project is due, first of all, to the presence of a large number of talents with extensive skills in the IT field. Romania thus becomes a favorable environment for the development of a team of specialists passionate about technology and eager to contribute to the international success of the company, having the chance to develop their career in a strong group at the European level.
“Our team in Romania understands that every line of code contributes to our customers’ experience and satisfaction. We are therefore committed to bringing added value to every project and creating innovative solutions that make a difference in modern retail,” added Andreas Schobert.
The interconnected approach between technical and human aspects allows the team to quickly identify problems and provide effective solutions to meet the needs of customers and colleagues in various departments, from stores and logistics to merchandising. Also, the high level of training and expertise in Romania, in combination with the affinity for the holistic thinking of technologies, contributed to the choice of this country as the ideal destination for the development of the HUB.
The IT HUB will initially focus on projects related to the online store, later expanding to address other key aspects of HORNBACH’s interconnected business model. The IT HUB team will be responsible not only for the development and implementation of projects, but also for the proactive expansion of services and the development of innovative ideas to improve existing systems.
“The IT HUB is set to grow rapidly in terms of headcount. Thus, we estimate that by the end of the year the number of colleagues will reach a double-digit level, priority being given especially to quality and cultural fit”, said Andrei Arabolea, IT Lead HORNBACH IT HUB Romania.
Currently, Hornbach Romania owns 9 physical stores, in Bucharest Berceni, Bucharest Militari, Bucharest Balotești, Brașov, Timișoara, Sibiu, Oradea, Cluj-Napoca and Constanța, and the online store.
