Cluj IT Cluster expands its academic partnerships with The University of Petrosani
Cluj IT Cluster aims at the creation of an ecosystem to support the development of the national innovation system. In order to achieve this objective, cooperation and exchange of ideas with various actors is essential, bringing the Romanian IT industry one step closer to success, according to a statement of cluster’s representatives. Hence, Cluj IT put the foundations of a partnership with the University of Petroșani, meant to strengthen and extend the relationship with the academic environment and to open a new path for the diversification of subsequent projects.
“2019 is an important year for Cluj IT because we have managed to enrich our community with several important universities in the country, including the most recent one – the University of Petrosani. We are in a close connection with the research environment, and through this new collaboration, we contribute with new forces to the strengthening of the economic performances with social impact in our country. Being a cluster that brings together innovative organizations, which have the expertise and enthusiasm in the field of information technology and beyond, Cluj IT has the potential to support the evolution of digitalization in various communities, including some affected by structural transformations such as Valea Jiului area,” states Andrei Kelemen, the executive director of Cluj IT.

“The cooperation with Cluj IT states for a positive reaction of our University to everything that represents digital innovation. We support such initiatives and we want to actively contribute to the objectives of the new partnership and the opening of new development opportunities for the digital sector in Romania,” says Prof. PhD. Cluj IT is an innovative cluster-type organization, with over 80 organizations active in the information technology sector, such as service providers and software solutions, universities and research institutes, public bodies and other catalyst organizations.
The University of Petrosani is a public institution of higher education and research, having over 3700 students at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral education degrees, out of which over 370 are foreign students. The 150 teachers, together with the students and in collaboration with the economic environment, contribute actively to the local and regional economic development.
