AHK Romania supports the amendments to “Kurzarbeit” ordinance
The Romanian-German business environment supports and encourages the draft law that contains adjustments and modifications in the “Kurzarbeit” program to support Romanian companies.
In Germany, this tool has been very helpful to companies in times of crisis and we are glad that it is now applicable in Romania as well. Even if there is still room for improvement, the current changes are a step in the right direction. “Especially the possibility to reduce by up to 80% the working time of employees, one of the requirements of AHK Romania, is gratifying, but also the fact that the changes to the law are tailored to the needs of companies,” said Dragoș Anastasiu, President of AHK Romania .
Since the beginning of the pandemic, AHK Romania has repeatedly stressed the importance and necessity of introducing Kurzarbeit, based on the experience of other states, especially Germany, where this instrument has been operating successfully for more than a century. “The pandemic is not over yet, and its consequences will have effects in the future. That is why it is important that the legislation on Kurzarbeit has been adjusted and its application extended ”, comments Sebastian Metz, General Manager of AHK Romania.
It would be important for this law to be able to be applied in the future, even without connection to the current pandemic, to become perennial and to find together, through open dialogue between the business environment and the Government, solutions for improvement.
AHK Romania (Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry) is the official representation of the German economy and also the largest bilateral Chamber of Commerce in Romania and has over 600 member companies, offering companies an important platform for networking, information exchange and experiences, but also business consulting.
