Less than 15% of companies have full visibility into their IT equipment. DEIO launches a Device-as-a-Service model for the enterprise segment
DEIO, formerly iTrade Integrated Systems, a company with 14 years of experience in IT&C services for the B2B segment, is launching a Device-as-a-Service (DaaS) solution in Romania, dedicated to the enterprise segment.
The model introduces an integrated approach to the lifecycle of IT equipment, covering all stages, from delivery and maintenance to replacement, and provides organizations with visibility into costs and how these resources are managed.
According to available data, fewer than 15% of organizations have a complete overview of the laptops and PCs they use. In practice, monitoring is largely limited to acquisition costs, while usage-related risks, including incidents not covered by standard manufacturer warranties, typically ranging from 1 to 3 years in the B2B segment, remain outside initial budgets and are managed reactively.
The operational component, which includes internal time allocation, administrative processes, and the impact of disruptions, remains difficult to quantify and manage. This lack of visibility is directly reflected in operations: for every 100 laptops and PCs, between 10 and 20 major hardware incidents may occur annually (a number that can double in the third year of use), each generating, on average, between 8 and 14 hours of downtime per employee, from the moment the issue is reported to the replacement and full setup of the device.
In addition, over 25% of devices do not fully meet current security standards, while between 18% and 22% are replaced before the end of their depreciation cycle due to technical limitations or failures.
Device-as-a-Service: visibility and structure in IT equipment management
Device-as-a-Service solutions address these limitations through an integrated approach that includes services such as extended warranty and device insurance. DEIO acts as an operational partner for companies, taking full responsibility for the entire lifecycle of IT equipment, from delivery and setup to maintenance, support, and replacement.
“Companies in the enterprise segment are beginning to understand the Device-as-a-Service model through a lens similar to fleet outsourcing, where the value lies not only in operational leasing, but in the full service package. This includes insurance, replacement units, incident management, and SLAs that support business continuity. At the same time, the model provides greater agility and predictability for IT budgets compared to the traditional CAPEX approach,” said Andrei Dumitrel, Co-founder of DEIO.
As a result, companies benefit from a predictable cost structure and a clear view of how devices are used and managed, with the option to upgrade equipment after just six months of use, even within a standard 36-month contract.
Over a three-year period, the total cost of ownership of a laptop is, on average, at least twice its purchase price, according to industry estimates. DEIO data shows that the DaaS model provides companies with clear visibility into these costs and how they are managed throughout the lifecycle of IT equipment.
Outsourcing device management can reduce operational workload in IT departments by up to 50–60%, eliminating repetitive tasks such as setup, inventory management, and hardware support.
The DaaS market in Romania is still at an early stage, dominated by traditional models. As IT infrastructure becomes more complex, more organizations are looking for solutions that offer not just equipment, but operational accountability and cost visibility.
