ANIS 2026: The Romanian IT ecosystem transforms ideas into impactful projects

The eight categories of the 2026 IT Industry Excellence Awards attracted 68 projects, providing a concrete picture of how the industry is responding to the pressure to transform accelerated growth into applied and scalable innovation.

The top entries include Education Program of the Year (13), Innovation of the Year (12) and Software Project of the Year (10, 2.5 times more than in 2025), signaling a clear orientation towards projects with measurable results and a focus on areas that support the long-term development of the ecosystem. This evolution indicates a transition from exploratory initiatives to concrete projects with direct applicability in business.

The 68 applications were submitted by 45 companies, of which 13 registered multiple projects, resulting in a multiple participation rate of 28.8%. The structure of participation suggests a balance between companies testing the competition with a single project and organizations with consolidated portfolios, capable of supporting multiple initiatives in parallel.

“The data from the 2026 edition confirms the maturation of the Romanian IT ecosystem. Interest remains high for innovation and skills development, but the orientation towards execution and measurable results is increasingly clear. If the industry discourse speaks of the transition to added value, the projects entered in the competition show how this is starting to materialize in practice”, stated Corina Vasile, Executive Director of ANIS.

The applications now enter the evaluation stage carried out by specialized juries, which will analyze the impact, sustainability and relevance of the results. The finalists will be announced in the coming period, and the winners will be designated at the ANIS Gala on May 12, 2026.

The ANIS Awards annually recognize the performance, innovation and impact of the Romanian software and IT services industry, highlighting projects and initiatives that contribute to the development of the technological ecosystem and the digital transformation of the economy. And the 2026 edition becomes a real barometer of the direction of the Romanian IT ecosystem, highlighting how ideas materialize into projects with tangible impact in the economy and industry.
