Cătălin Bădescu, Head of BSV, Capgemini Romania: We teach our employees how to implement and use new technologies in a controlled and safe environment

Leaders in business services industry gathered for sharing their latest insights on the evolution and shifts in their work and companies at the 11th Edition of THE ROMANIAN BUSINESS SERVICES FORUM & AWARDS.

In the discussion of the CEO Forum panel, Catalin Badescu, Head of BSV, Capgemini Romania highlighted on the need of using Ai and new technologies in a safe manner and underlined the attributes of Romania as a forefront location of business services.

In the past, a lot of companies were not eager to come to Romania due to the lack of infrastructure, not feeling safe and secure. Now, looking at our organization, when I have someone coming and visiting from within the organization, they enjoy Romania a lot, they see the investment which were done.

Besides being resilient, Romanians are also very curious to learn, to develop themselves. That’s quite a very strong part of our behaviour, which is also quite visible. Romania has a very strong advantage from this point of view and a still a lot of room for possible growth. We should not limit ourselves only to Iasi, Bucharest, Cluj and other cities. Once the infrastructure is in place, other cities will bring additional talent, but that is something which we would need to explore in the future. Technology-wise, this is an ongoing process. We work in an environment where changes and updates happen often and we are preparing our employees to gain the needed knowledge in terms of AI new technologies.

A major point to underline is the aspects of ethics in using the AI, because there is a large amount of open-source AI tools and technologies available on the market that can lead to sensitive and harmful effects. We teach our employees how to implement and use new technologies in a controlled and safe environment. The new technology is the evolution of our world as humanity and work environment, to which we need to adapt. As a company, we need to invest wisely and effectively, according to projects that bring value. As a company, we work to understand which are the real benefits and which are the different models to be designed in terms of cost efficiency and added value. Also, the factor of power consumption is also worth mentioning in terms of sustainability indicators.
