{"id":206,"date":"2019-09-09T07:02:18","date_gmt":"2019-09-09T07:02:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/outsourcing-today.ro\/?p=206"},"modified":"2019-09-09T07:02:18","modified_gmt":"2019-09-09T07:02:18","slug":"school-in-a-box-national-program-provides-a-digital-educational-platform-for-schools-in-rural-areas-until-august-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/outsourcing-today.ro\/?p=206","title":{"rendered":"\u201cSchool in a Box\u201d national program provides a digital educational platform for schools in rural areas until August 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scoaladinvaliza.ro\">\u201cSchool in a Box\u201d national program<\/a> run during May 2018 to August 2020<\/strong> and implemented by Vodafone Romania Foundation in partnership with the World Vision Romania Foundation will provide eight rural schools in Romania with a <strong>the digital platform called www.scoaladinvaliza.ro<\/strong> and <strong>eight suitcases equipped with the latest technology. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The program benefits from 420,000 Euro in funding from the Vodafone Romania Foundation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The digital platform <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scoaladinvaliza.ro\/\">www.scoaladinvaliza.ro<\/a> consists of two sections, one for the general public, the other accessible only by logging. The section of the platform accessible to the general public hosts <strong>over 300 resources organized according to discipline or level of study<\/strong>, being continuously updated with useful materials. Among the resources uploaded in this section are the <strong>Vodafone Digital Library<\/strong>, which includes history lessons presented in the form of comic books as well as other resources \u2013 prose, poetry and philosophy, <strong>textbooks<\/strong> downloaded from website of the the Ministry of Education, online and downloadable <strong>curricular and extracurricular resources, interactive exercises, courses, etc<\/strong>. Users also have access to tests and information developed by the SMURD Foundation, applicable in various emergencies situations alongside <strong>parenting resources<\/strong> (in areas such as child health, education, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>The educational platform can be used in schools both online and offline, using the equipment available in the eight digital boxes. Each box, designed accordingly to the Vodafone <strong>\u201cInstant Classroom\u201d<\/strong> concept, is similar to a mobile digital lab, permanently connected to the Vodafone 4G network. It contains a performant server, a laptop for the teacher, 25 tablet for students, a video projector and an audio system nd has over 8 hours of autonomy. This digital boxes ensure teacher\u2019s independence and access to technology for the entire community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The eight Instant Classroom boxes<\/strong> were distributed in the schools where the program is running, namely: Gymnasium School in Gura V\u0103ii, V\u00e2lcea County; Gymnasium School in Co\u015fereni and Gymnasium School in Sine\u015fti, Ialomi\u0163a County; Gymnasium School Nr. 1 from Afuma\u021bi, Ilfov County; Mihai David Secondary School in Negre\u015fti, Secondary School Nicolae Ciubotaru from Vulture\u015fti and Gymnasium School Nr. 1 in Parpani\u0163a, Vaslui County and Liviu Dan Gymnasium School from Mociu, Cluj county.<\/p>\n<p>Each of the eight schools participating in the program has its own online digital space for lessons, accessible only via specially created accounts. Here, teachers can create different resources \u2013 their own lessons, tests, questionnaires and games, or they can add external materials that they find helpful. In turn, students use the platform and tablets in class, enjoying secure access through user-name and password authentication. Account administration is centralized at school level. Until mid-May, teachers created <strong>over 3,500 resources<\/strong> directly on the platform, visible only to pupils in their classes, <strong>accessed over 13,000 times<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Vodafone Romania Foundation<\/strong> is a Romanian nongovernmental charitable organization, established in 1998, which operates separately and independently from the Vodafone Romania SA\u2019s business. During its <strong>over 20 years of activity<\/strong> Vodafone Romania Foundation has funded <strong>1,132 programs<\/strong> run by <strong>730 NGOs<\/strong> hroughout the country, in the fields of healthcare, education and social services. These projects had a total of almost <strong>3 million beneficiaries<\/strong> \u2013 hildren, young and old people and physically, socially or economically disadvantaged people. So far, Vodafone Romania has invested over <strong>30 million euros<\/strong> in projects run by nonprofit partner organizations.
