Students from Gheorghe Laz\u0103r National College explored how emerging technologies can transform scientific research, from digital heritage documentation to the use of AI and robotics in archaeological experiments.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Endava, <\/strong>the technology-driven business transformation group, whose AI-native approach combines cutting edge technology with deep industry expertise, together with the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB), continued their collaboration for the third consecutive year within the Summer School “<\/strong>From Robotics to Archaeology”. Held this summer at the Sultana-Malu Ro\u0219u archaeological site in C\u0103l\u0103ra\u0219i County, this year\u2019s participants learned from Endava professionals about the responsible use of artificial intelligence in research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized in partnership with \u201cGheorghe Laz\u0103r\u201d National College, the programme brought together students from the high school, PhD candidates, researchers, and technology specialists, giving them the opportunity to explore how archaeology, robotics, artificial intelligence and digital technologies can complement one another in research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Endava experts explored with participants why ethics, security and compliance need to be considered throughout the design and use of AI-powered solutions, drawing on Endava\u2019s experience of applying these principles in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted students to see that responsible AI is not only about what the technology can do, but also about how it is designed, governed and used. Over the four-day programme, participants explored how modern technologies can enhance traditional research methods. From using robots in archaeological experiments to digitally documenting archaeological sites through 3D scanning, deploying drones equipped with specialized sensors, and analyzing research data, students discovered how technologies developed within the digital sector can open up new opportunities for scientific discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Reaching the third edition, the initiative demonstrated the value of approaching archaeology as a discipline that benefits from collaboration with robotics, artificial intelligence and the exact sciences. By combining academic knowledge with technological expertise, we created an environment where participants could ask questions, explore, and understand how digital tools, when used responsibly, can transform scientific research,”<\/em> said C\u0103t\u0103lin Laz\u0103r, researcher at the Research Institute of the  University of Bucharest and Coordinator of the ArchaeoSciences Platform.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
