An integrated cybersecurity platform, which brings together capabilities for monitoring and analyzing security events, detection, Cyber \u200b\u200bThreat Intelligence, vulnerability management and cyber incident response, has been developed within the framework of the European research and innovation project, SIEMBIOT, worth 3.36 million euros. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was implemented by the National Directorate of Cyber \u200b\u200bSecurity (DNSC), as beneficiary, in partnership with Expertware, the project coordinator.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from DNSC, the SIEMBIOT platform brings together, in a modular framework, five categories of complementary capabilities: Security Monitoring & Detection, Cyber \u200b\u200bThreat Intelligence (CTI), Vulnerability Management, Cybersecurity Maturity Assessment, and Research & Training. ‘The platform architecture allows the integration of these capabilities and the exploitation of information from different sources (on-prem and cloud) in a common analysis framework. For research and training activities, data can be anonymized and aggregated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, instead of a security alert, an identified vulnerability and information about an active threat being analyzed separately, SIEMBIOT aims to correlate these data to provide organizations with a more coherent picture of risk and to support the prioritization of security actions,’ the press release states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The completion of the implementation period was marked on August 27, 2026, at the Diplomatic Club in Bucharest, through the SIEMBIOT Final Conference, an event attended by over 200 representatives of public authorities, companies, the cybersecurity industry, organizations from essential sectors, academia and research. Also present at the specialized conference was Luca Tagliaretti, Executive Director of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC), the coordinator of the grant, who presented the European perspective on cybersecurity investments, innovation and the development of sustainable capabilities at the European Union level, as well as the opportunities offered by future European calls in the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, Tiberiu Baraboi, CEO of Expertware and coordinator of the SIEMBIOT project, held a live demonstration of the platform, presenting how the developed capabilities can be used to monitor and analyze security events, manage vulnerabilities and assess cyber maturity in the context of NIS2. ‘One of the conclusions of the discussion was that more data and more alerts do not automatically mean more security. Given that attackers act quickly, organizations must be able to identify relevant information, correlate data from different sources and transform the available information into decisions and actions in the shortest possible time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions also highlighted that technology alone does not create resilience. Security tools need to be configured, monitored and integrated into operational processes, and for organizations that do not have extensive cybersecurity teams, automation and access to external capabilities can help reduce the time between identifying a threat and effectively responding,’ DNSC states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed under the Digital Europe Programme, SIEMBIOT has a total budget of 3,358,195 euros, of which 2,384,093.75 euros represent the European Union contribution, and approximately 974,000 euros – co-financing provided by the project consortium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
