The labour market in the cultural sector and creative industries is going through a period of transformation. Romania records the lowest percentage of people employed in the cultural sector in the European Union, while, globally, artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way creative work is produced and distributed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n For professionals in the creative sector, the ability to make strategic decisions is becoming increasingly important, alongside execution skills. In 2025, 1.8% of the total number of people employed in Romania worked in the cultural sector, the lowest level in the European Union, compared to the EU average of 4.3%.<\/strong> The Netherlands (5.7%), Estonia (5.3%) and Malta (5.1%) recorded the highest shares, according to Eurostat[i]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Romania’s share is 2.5 percentage points below the EU average, <\/strong>which reflects a relatively small base of employment in the cultural sector and, by extension, a more limited potential for training the sector’s future leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Artificial intelligence is transforming creative work, but the final decision remains with the creator<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The transformation of the sector is also being accelerated by the adoption of artificial intelligence in creative processes. 87% of creators who use or have tried creative AI say it has accelerated the growth of their business or follower base, while 85% say the final creative decision should always belong to them<\/strong>, according to a survey conducted by Adobe[ii]<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In this context, professional training in the creative industries no longer means just technical execution skills.
