The program brings together three projects with different impact and needs, run by Asociația pentru Valori în Educație (“AVE”), Asociația Creștină Something New and Asociația Casa Bună, with a direct impact on more than 860 beneficiaries and an indirect impact on more than 4,000 people across the country, as well as on the communities around them.

The initiative starts from the belief that in a world shaped by AI and rapid change, young people need relevant education, access to resources, and adults ready to guide them.

From potential to real opportunities: education as the infrastructure of the future

Romania is living a real paradox. It is recognized worldwide for the quality of its IT talent, being considered a true „Silicon Valley” of Eastern Europe, yet at the same time there are significant digital skills gaps within the general population. Just over half of young Romanians aged 16 to 24 (53.3%) have at least basic digital skills, according to 2025 Eurostat data, compared to the European Union average of 74.6%, with Romania ranking second-to-last in the EU on this indicator.

Between these two realities lies a space where education can change the trajectory of people’s lives. A space where Cognizant Romania chooses to step in, through three projects that do not treat education as a one-off intervention, but as a long-term investment in people, communities, and Romania’s capacity to remain relevant in an increasingly digital economy.

„When we support education, we are not only investing in a possible future for the tech industry, but in the possibility for young people to have real options, in a Romania where technology is changing the way we learn. For us, Cognizant Future Talent in Tech Romania is about responsibility, trust, and about how our team, used to building solutions for the future, can contribute to the communities it is part of. We start from the fact that our country already has a good reputation in the industry and has talent in the technology field, and we consciously choose to also develop the generation that will carry it forward, in the new era of technology shaped by AI.

Cognizant has the global mission of building the future of technology from the position of an AI Builder, and chooses to support continuous education precisely because we understand that it represents the foundation young people need to build their own path, in line with today’s increasingly dynamic realities”, said Mihai Constandiș, Country Manager & Head of Romania Studios.

Cognizant Future Talent in Tech Romania is a long-term initiative. For 2026, the investment amounts to more than 500,000 USD, support provided both through the state’s fiscal sponsorship mechanism, which allows the redirection of 20% of corporate income tax to NGOs, and through the direct contribution of Cognizant specialists to the development of the Polaris application within the AVE project.

The three projects cover complementary stages:

Educational recovery, trust and inclusion through the NGO Casa Buna

The project run by Casa Buna addresses one of the most urgent educational needs: closing learning gaps before they become permanent barriers. Through 13 remedial education camps held during the 2026 and 2027 school holidays, 100 children aged 5 to 14 from vulnerable communities in Ferentari, Jilava and Arges County will benefit from intensive literacy and math sessions with psycho-emotional support and healthy life routines. At the same time, the program trains a team of at least 20 students and volunteers in remedial education, who can continue to support the children after the camps end.

Modern education where infrastructure is lacking, through the NGO Something New

Through EDUBus, a mobile lab equipped with laptops, robotics kits and virtual reality sets, the project brings modern education to seven villages in Cluj and Salaj counties. The program combines STEM sessions, critical thinking workshops, educational camps and digital parenting sessions, for a community of 500 children, 150 mothers and 36 teachers who would otherwise not have had access to these resources.

Polaris – technology for the leadership of the school of the future, through the NGO Asociatia pentru Valori in Educatie

Asociația pentru Valori în Educatie (AVE) is relaunching the School Management and Leadership Academy (ALMS), the leadership accelerator dedicated to school principals, which combines experiential learning, approaches from the startup world, and mentoring from corporate and entrepreneurial professionals to help them increase their impact in schools.

Polaris is the digital platform that extends the ALMS experience, supporting a continuous, personalized and measurable leadership development journey. Integrated into the principal’s learning path, Polaris uses artificial intelligence to support reflection and guidance, helping principals see their progress more clearly and suggesting relevant directions for development.

The platform is developed with the financial support of Cognizant and the direct contribution of a team of Cognizant Romania engineers and professionals, based on principles of explainable and responsible AI.

About Cognizant

Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) is a technology services provider and AI solutions developer, building the bridge between artificial intelligence investments and business value through full-stack AI solutions for its clients.
