POLITEHNICA Bucharest marked, through an opening conference, the launch of the four strategic projects in microelectronics, won through the PNRR call \u2013 Cross-border and multinational projects \u2013 low-power processors and semiconductor chips, part of the European IPCEI Microelectronics & Communications Technologies (ME\/CT) program.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest is involved in all four projects as an indirect participant, alongside leading industrial partners \u2013 Aumovio, Robert Bosch and NXP Semiconductors Romania. The total value of the projects is approaching 90 million euros, with funding being provided through the call dedicated to indirect participants within the PNRR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chips are the \u201cbrain\u201d of modern technology. They are in cars, phones, medical equipment and in many systems that keep the economy moving. Through these projects, POLITEHNICA Bucharest aims to become a research and development hub for the microelectronics industry in Romania: a place where research is done, specialists are trained and a solid foundation for new investments and larger projects is built, step by step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want POLITEHNICA Bucharest to be a place where technologies are designed, tested and validated that end up in real products. We want to become a hub of excellence in microelectronics where we can attract highly qualified specialists, foreign investments and where we can start to bring added value to the microelectronics industry in Romania. These projects mean stronger laboratories, larger research teams and more opportunities for students and researchers to work directly with the industry. We want this hub to become a reference in Europe for microelectronics and to lead to significant economic growth in the region.\u201d, says the rector of POLITEHNICA Bucharest, Mihnea COSTOIU.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Around these projects, POLITEHNICA Bucharest wants to develop a microelectronics hub that will be the basis for the development of the microelectronics industry in Romania, through research and education, but also by attracting private and public investments in this essential field for Romania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
